While there is a healthy dose of skepticism in this article, and a comment of “absurd” from a doctor, their clinic study, and patient response gives Reiki a thumbs up.

My original Reiki teachers, and friends, established a free clinic of complimentary / alternative therapies in the 80’s through the 90’s and eventually had an out-patient clinic at hospital in SF, thanks to the welcome reception by Kaiser.  They offered Reiki, among other things, as a complimentary therapy for the recovering.

I can still remember Claudia retelling her meeting with the board of directors and administering Reiki to doctors. Anyway… on to the article.

Article Excerpt: Reiki Used for Cancer Patience – WSJ.com

Reiki, a therapy in which hands are placed lightly on the body or just above it, is increasingly being used to reduce cancer-related fatigue, anxiety, nausea and pain. Several studies suggest a benefit to patients, but scientists say more large, rigorous studies are needed.

Cancer patients—due to the disease and to side effects of chemotherapy—often suffer from severe mental and physical fatigue, doctors say. Anxiety, nausea and pain are also common. In recent years, many cancer centers have been offering Reiki, a form of healing which originated in Japan in the early 1900s, according to scientific literature. In a session of Reiki, hands are placed lightly on the body. Each spot is treated for three minutes or longer and sometimes therapists place their hands just above the body without touching, says Donah Drewett, a Fairlee, Vt.-based Reiki therapist who works at Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon, N.H.

In almost 20 years of Reiki work I’ve seen a lot. Dramatic recovery’s, long term treatments, and heard stories of assisting those in passage from this life. I’ve used Reiki to compliment healing, release, and lift emotional states of being, in art, cooking, and in conversation.

For me, it is a living part of my life. I’m always glad to see it in the news in such a positive light.

I appreciate your comments, keep them coming!

Big love.

Hello possums. 🙂

I’m on the recover from a severe cold, a virus that went hack and slash through my system for about a week, a cold that I couldn’t defend against on Friday. I had a few days of downtown, a lot of healing with Reiki, EO’s and some distance help -plus a few healthy chugs on a theraflu bottle when I thought my throat couldn’t take it anymore, and here I am on Monday, wobbling back into action.

On Sunday I was not sure I would be able to channel a lick today but it seems that those who send me the weekly message are in tip-top form, and since I’m able to meditate and type, we’ve got a weekly.

I chose a Significator this week. There are a few ways to choose Significators I choose my higher guidance. I was bouncing around a few cards, Magician for the manifesting work; The Universe for the absolute; and then the Star which for me related to healing and also channeling information or “looking into the future.”

In considering the Star I came across the following passage in the Tarot of the Spirit which confirmed my guided choice.

Tarot card from the Rider-Waite tarot deck, al...

Image via Wikipedia

“At the Star, you recognize that you are of the ephemeral physical plane, but you are also of the heavens,

the plane of eternal light. There is not contradiction. Through this knowledge, all things that exist upon earth are brought into perfection.”

The Star is also related to Aquarius, the visionary. There is also something authentic about the star, he or she is pouring water into the pool and onto the earth. It may seem strange to un-expecting traveler (The Fool) but when queried the Star explains that the water is for the pool that it may always be full to nourish the travelers who visit it, and the water on the earth is for the life that is seeded and rooted there. It is for the future.

Tarot Weekly

Weekly, February 28 – March 6th, 2011

I’m looking at the power of the Star shining through in our relationships. The Two of cups does indicate “with others” but I wouldn’t rule out “with our self” if this is right. Re-visioning or healing at a level which brings us into, or back into connections that open our minds and/or allow for a healthy exchange of the life force energy to be a part of the process with an emphasis on love and intimacy.

The Nine of Cups in our Northern Quarter tells us that there is success to be had in this attempt, relationships offering rewards that are both satisfying and healthy. Achieving what we want, or your “wish coming true.” Be mindful of what you are wishing for and careful of overindulgence.

In our place of power rides the Knight of Pentacles, the Eastern Door and new things but he is a very heavy card, his mind bent to details, minutia, and the letter of the law. This may feel burdensome or overly prudent. My feeling tells me that he (potentially a she) is someone bearing a gift that we should consider (two of cups)  against the expansive feeling / energies / that we would like to execute.

For some I would question whether this is your idealism meeting practicality, and missing the generosity that is being offered because you can’t be bothered with details.

Potentially this could be a “Knight in shining armor.”

The Moon makes a marked appearance in the realm of our mind. Another emotional card, it is for us to reflect the light of the star through our selves so that our mind is focused on the proper channel of light, not the fears or doubts of the past.

That does highlight the importance of the Knight of Pentacles.

In the Western Door is an inverted Nine of Wands, asking about what sort of experience we are drawing on. The healing is in listening and releasing the past and how you move through your emotional relationships and connections. What is old and outmoded should be clear because you are experiencing it yet again. This isn’t a warning of defeat, simply a note to you saying that you are experiencing a newness and any One (Ace of Wands) bringing the passion of ideas, needs to be looked at as a new creature. A new creation. A new dance that should be experienced, not ticked and weighted against your past and any drama, hurt, or pain you may be holding onto.

In broader sweeps I see the release of emotional baggage, and karma associated with relationships. Clearing the channel leaves the healer, visionary, open to hold a greater space for love, insight, and energy to pass through.

Others, healers, and seers are the forerunners of tomorrow, keep your self healthy. Observe your interactions, your relationships, how you meet them, tend them, and cultivate them.

Our true message is within the center of these fires of the heart.

Hello. Hello!

Yes I finally did it, I opened the doors to Lifencompass / my home and started a healing share. I began by calling it a Reiki Share but I feel that there are just too many great healing modalities that work well together to limit it to Reiki alone. Besides the work “reiki” is just to limiting lately. There is so much more to it than the “#hashtag” “#Reiki” has become. Today, with a few healers I have worked with over the years, we draw together a start, a circle of healing in Downtown LA. And in the case of anyone thinking, Um why didn’t you call me? I started with students and healers I have established a working relationship with, and those that arrived become what I hope is the seed.

I’m excited!

The energy of the house, that sits within a little healing grid, has changed already and a lot has come in and through in preparation. I am REALLY happy with this. My life, my changes, and my path feel… on point.

So, in the future I’m looking at expanding the circle and opening up the healing practice again, and, and, and, moving forward in this new direction. It’s time. I’m glad you have walked along with me. Anticipate new things, maybe like once a month. Expect invitations.

For updates you can add me as a friend on Facebook:

Yes, like many of you I’m sick. I’m only sitting here at my desk at the moment because I’ve grudgingly taken a 1/2 dose of a “daytime” flu medication. My ill luck started with a hazy x-mas  holiday and a popped blood vessel in my nose. One is bigger than the other and it dramatic weather changes it tends to get bothered. Well, it did. That became a bloody drip that kept me up all night. Roll that into a cold-like symptom this morning and afternoon and here I am, writing to you.

Bleck!

I have pasd Reiki, often for hours at a time when I lay in bed, as it takes no effort to lay hands and enter a meditative state. I’d like to think this has kept me from the worst of whatever hit me but I know tonight I’m going to go down for the healing count and really work on whatever it is that is working on me. 🙂

I’ve cancelled my appointments and any blogging, except maybe to moan and groan, until I’m on the upward swing and able to be clear again to read, cast cards, make art, etc.

Yada. Yada. Yada. I’m going back to being lethargic.

Hey…

Silly me, I just realized I was on vacation. In my mind I was thinking I still had a week to go but in fact, I’m free of all mundane obligations to my real estate position. That leaves time for other things and I would love to devote some of that time to folks who were in need of some healing or face time for guidance, Essential Oils, or what not.

Please contact me if you are in or going to be around the area. I will be gone for the actual “Christmas Holiday” DAY but pretty much home-centric for the rest of the month, including New Years which I will spend with my lovely friends at Santee Court.

Send me an email or give a poke or gab on facebook and I’ll respond as soon as humanly possible.

Hoping you have weathered this retrograde and the holiday’s.

I was thinking about the message of Salmon rom this weeks Tarot Weekly and the directness, often aired as sternness or even hard delivery of the misunderstood Queen of Swords. I wanted to put together a meditation that woud help in the process of touching that source wisdom and for carrying that forward into our day-to-day life to affect the change we want.

Anyway, Salmon as Wisdom and Vajra as enlightenment.

Peer often deep within the pool of Fec,
Peer often deep within the pool of thought,
And you will harmonize the wandering mind,
Recover sunken secrets of yourself,
Find love and light without you, as within,
And wake new wonder by the banks of Boyne.

From “The Song of the Salmon-God” by W.P. Ryan

Vajra || Mudra of the Fist of Wisdom

Phylameana lila Desy over at About.Healing.com writes:

Varja: The Vajra mudra transforms ignorance into wisdom. Symbolizes the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and metal. photo © Joe Desy

How to form the Vajra Mudra: Right-handed fist surrounds left index finger. Remaining fingers of left hand also form a fist below the right hand.

Why a Mudra? How does that connect to Salmon?

Well first I’m a Reiki Practitioner, and educator. Reiki has primary roots in Buddhism, and deeper originating points traced through practice in such spiritual traditions as Wu Shamanism, Hindusim, and Shinto. There is a relevant connection in my personal cosmology as Ki is often used in all things that I do. I just about empower Reiki with everything, some exclusions for specific types of work, spells, and other occult practices. The Vajra mudra became the link of inspiration that lead me to an understanding of how I can communicate with, and get the most out of this weeks animal helper.

The Salmon was thought to represent Wisdom and the instinct to return to the place where it spawns, or knowing the source, essence. Salmon is Vajra, Vajra is Salmon. The fish / fist of wisdom. They both lead us towards greater understanding.

I use Mudra’s, with Reiki, or other forms of energy work by running the energy through the hand gesture in a state of focused concentration on (1) receiving the impression that the mudra causes and (2) magnifying the energy of the mudra by chanting the name. This illustrates a form of resonance and attunement, and using the energy to affect change in consciousness.

This week we are working with a Druidic Animal Totem, Salmon. Bringer of Wisdom, seeker of Source. In short, this reminds me of the idea of Vajra, or enlightenment. The insight for me was through Vajra (wisdom) and the use of mudra’s, Salmon could be our guide to the Source this week.

I’d like to propose some Journeywork with the Salmon to access the wisdom that has been suggested as a resource for us in the Tarot Weekly.

  1. Get centered and cleared, mentally, physical, emotional, and at the soul level.
  2. Set the intention to clearly and easily hear the message from your source.
  3. Count down into a meditative / magickal state (or your practice of getting into the deeper space).
  4. Imagine a primal forest through wich flows a deep and vast river, winding in and out of the canopy of trees. A powerful force of water that carries water throughout this mythical place.
  5. Approach the river and  evoke the spiritual or “Master Salmon” spirit. The animal spirit essence of all Salmon. You could see it as a larger than life fish that appears within the water, greeting you.
  6. Establish a connection to this spiritual being, the earthy force, the instinct, the power of Salmon. Follow these queues to establish a deeper feeling, and therefor psychic connection, to the power and wisdom that it represents.
  7. Ask the Salmon Spirit to take you to the source of your wisdom. You may find that you are taken on a long journey, others may find theirs short, but you will travel up the river, against the current, to the spawning place of all your deepest wisdom. You may travel through still pools, deep currents, up water falls, and other kinds of watery places. Know that you are safe. Know that you journey towards the source of your insight.
  8. As you come close to this spawning ground, notices other salmon returning to the source as well. The water is alive with their thrashing, spray fans the air as you come to the source.
  9. At the Source, the Salmon circle you, calming. Here at the pool you experience the vibration of your deepest wisdom. Call upon the Wisdom of your source. If we’re supple, open to the shift, we can allow the consciousness to shift and when we reach for our source we can experience the information there on a new level. Undoubtedly the wisdom is there but the point of the mudra is to dispel ignorance thus removing the “cloud” that is blocking our reception.
  10. Take in whatever information that you receive from your source. Know it.
  11. Take a moment then to review your life from this center of clarity, go over the panorama of your life and look for areas where the “discord” or cloudiness is apparent. Feel these spots through the images, symbolic or litteral, and make a connection to them. Explore that sensation / feeling.
  12. Now send the energy of your source through that connection and ask (for your greater well being) that the lesson or direction that is needed become clear. Ask yourself, does it feel healthy to clean, raise the frequency, or even remove this energy from my life? If not, do not proceed. If yes, allow the Wisdom vibration to transform, blast, sweep away, or other lift the vibration.
  13. It’s possible that Salmon will have a message for you at the end of this visualization. Ask if there is anything further that you should know, seen or unseen. Then ask to journey back to the edge of the primal forest with the Salmon Spirit.
  14. Give thanks to the totemic force and spend any time you need at the edge of the water before returning to normal consciousness.
  15. Ground off any excess energy into the earth, and ask that it be used to heal the planet.

Journal your experience. I might suggest pulling out key phrases that jump out of the entry and combining them into an affirmation, or a chant that you can use in any follow up spell / energy work. Affirmations can be very transformative if used properly, and regularly.

From a previous post…

Affirmations are the act of affirming or stating that something, generally an idea or behavior, is true in order to affect change within our lives. Affirmations are powerful, they change the basic thought structure and patterns of how we think about something and in doing so we change the way in which we do…. do. :)

Affirmations aren’t so esoteric but are actually quite effective. I have transformed my life through the use of affirmations and you can too! Simple, constructive and reinforcing statements “that strengthen the you that you are” and not “the you that you fear you are.”

Louise Hay, Woman of Wisdom, author of Heal Your Body among other wonderful works, would be a great starting point if you want to explore affirmations in greater detail.

I have used affirmations in my life many times over but it wasn’t until recent shifts in thought and lifestyle over the last 5 years that I truly could appreciate the effectiveness of consciously choosing to change with affirmations, and other tools in my magickal tool belt, my self. I have my own set of reminders that I turn to in order to get the most out of our gift to choose to change, and these are them. (Continue reading here…)

What good is our inner wisdom if we do not access it?

Take a little time with this visualization, or another that you are more comfortable with, to get in touch with your truth, your wisdom, your source.

Let me know how your meditation goes! Did you work with the energy of Salmon or another symbol or image? Did you have any key insights? Please feel free to share.

Question: If I made Journeywork / meditations private, would you be inclined to share more?

Cover via Amazon

Welcome back. I’ve been away. I know but the recent art work and show left me a little beat and in need of some recuperation. I owe you a couple of chapter reviews from Awakening to the Spirit World, and I’ve been itching to post something else. This post on Journey Work.

It’s not ABC witchcraft.

This particular post should fall under the Journal category as I’m really doing my best to illustrate the experience without being too much of an editor, protecting privacy issues and attempting to cover a wide swath of the last month and half of meditation and magickal work.  Bear with me.

GRAARR!

I mentioned earlier that I was interested in practicing a few things before I moved into my third attunement (Water) via the Temple of Witchcraft series, drawing in bits of things that felt left out in my own spiritual / magickal path.

In Lesson Three: The Underworld Path, I found very interesting and helpful exercise that brought me back to some core intuitions about how I deal with dense or heavy energies: Underworld Offering. I am familiar with this type of “energy eating” from other traditions, specifically working with Maria Yraceburu (Earth Wisdom) way back when I was exploring other spiritual practices. Much of that work involved Snake Medicine and many of my dream-experiences explored shapeshifting, shedding, and consuming poisons, transforming them into medicine.

When I was younger in my experience I would have dreams of chases. Things, gargoyles, bees, people who wanted to capture me. These were reflective of my life. It was trying. As are many lives. I learned in life to take the negative and transform it into something empowering. I don’t know how I did it, maybe it was something in the early study of metaphysics or Witchcraft, but it came through in dreams and subconscious tugs, urges, and intuitions. Through these dreams I learned to shift the energy by taking it into me and transforming it. An old practice.

Reading through The Temple of Shamanic Witchcraft I came across an exercise that has become one of my new favorite tools in grounding denser energies while filtering out the refined energy for use. The denser energies are grounded down through a stone, a link to a place that I have created in the underworld. There they are recycled. The lighter energies remain and are put back out into the world. This practice is called Underworld Offering. (TOSW, Lesson Three, Exercise 14, page 179. Christopher Penczak).

Christopher writes,

“There are three main ways to release your heavy, dense energy to the Underworld. The first is simply through intent, much like grounding or earthing the energy after a ritual. you can do this by making contact with the ground itself, by kneeling on the ground and pressing your hands into it. You can also funnel the energy into the ground through as staff or sword, or simply will in there through your raised hands in a standing position (OTOW, Chapter 11). You can do the tree breathing meditation (exercise 6) and focus exclusively on the roots. As you ground your energy, simply use your will, and intend  to release all heavy energy through your roots into th earth and then the Underworld.

(Later)

The thrid technique is to create a heavy energy eater. For this magickal device, you will need a stone of considerable size. Mine is a very large quartz-crystal point, the size of a newborn child. It doesn’t have to be that big, or made of quartz, but it should be a fairly large, dense stone. It is not something you will carry around with you…”

I chose the selenite piece that I had previously used to cycle dense energy while working at my office job (in the past) and used it as my link to a cleansing space I had found in my journey work. Let me explain.

My most recent mediations have been a series of psychic body building, traveling into the lower and upper worlds to create connections to spiritual and magickal archetypes and helping spirits. In the lower world we have our animal helpers, ancestor spirits, dark gods, and shadow forms of the lower self. There I found  my Underworld “me” and.

In the upper world are the sky world deities and spiritual/archetypal beings, or higher self. The Upper World “me”. I spent some good amount of time breathing into and from these beings to myself here, in the middle world, allowing my consciousness to exist in three worlds at once, as one. It’s powerful fun stuff, and not without some enlightening thoughts and experiences.

These exercises were the techicolor sign posts of study in my mind and spending time on this type of exploration. I feel that we don’t really have to spend the time asking why as the answer soon becomes apparent to the seeker. I’ll get to that.

I combined two other exercises, Eating Heavy Energy (exercise 9), and Earth Mother Journey (exercise 10)  into what I beginning to understand is a perfect technique. Eating Heavy Energy brought my awareness to the place in my energy field where I could split the dense from the light. Earth Mother Journey lead me to the place in the Underworld, a Cauldron, where I could send these dense energies. The exercise Underworld Offering gave me the tool which I could use to link to this place and cycle out the poisons and retain the medicines.

It’s much more involved in the process of working up to linking these three exercises. I am not sure if it was Christopher’s intent when he wrote it. It may even seem complicated to some but at the point when the three visualizations link the intake of the denser energies through the spiritual stomach, and filtered through the stone I had chosen to act as my Underworld connection, offering the energy through it to the cauldron in the Underworld, worked amazingly.

I’m so infatuated with these exercises I’ve been using them daily in situations that arise with dense energies in my self and in various situations. Today the Trine of lessons came together during a healing session. Though the details are naturally private between myself and the person I am working on, I found that the combination therapy of Reiki and grounding the denser energies through the stone and into the Underworld, to be very useful.

I’m grateful for the aid of the Reiki healer that joined me in today’s session and the patient who was willing and able to let go and allow for the deepest healing possible. The session was probably the most amazing and intense that I have experienced in my lifetime. Tears. Screaming. Shaking. Healing. Healing. Love. I met the energy with love.

I’m very grateful to Christopher Penczak and his formidable body of knowledge, and the aid that it has given me today and in my life. The Temple of Shamanic Witchcraft, if worked with regularly is a gem of a book. I highly recommend the whole series.

Looking forward to continuing the journey along this Shamanic Path a bit more confident and a lot more prepared.

Got questions? Ask. Thanks for tagging along with me.

Greetings. Welcome back.

I was about to start a new post for the Chapter 9 review of Awakening to Shamanism, when I decided to post a bit more on sound. Chapter 8, Working with Sound and Light, inspired some connections this last week when I attended class on Wednesday evening. I’m now, happily, participating in a 10 week course entitled Runes 110, at the Points of Light bookstore in Long Beach. I mentioned this class a few weeks to a month or so back because one of our friends, Christopher Lung, is teaching it.

First week was refreshing, interesting and entertaining. I honestly didn’t realize the depth of history that the Runes carry, nor did I realize the span of years that they had existed. History can become boring to me but fortunately the topic is within the realm of “more than interesting” and Christopher is an entertaining, and informed, educator.

It takes me over an hour to get to Long Beach during traffic hour but it’s worth the commute.

This last Wednesday we did some Runic breathing and chanting, and this is why the class corresponded to the Chapter 8 topic.

Singing, chanting, and toning have been used throughout history in ritual and ceremony. It’s a powerful tool socially, brining us together in a common voice and cause, and in my opinion an important part of magickal work. No I don’t sing like Whitney (used to), or chant like a Tibetan Monk. I’ve had my moments of singing in tongues and of course there is always the use of vibration with magickal symbols, like the sacred Reiki Symbols, when healing… I must be silly, I wasn’t connecting the dots.

Chanting the names of the Runes, while visualizing them, in a group was “neat”. More than neat, the resonating with the Runes in carried voices was intense. OK. I’m solitaire for the most part. I have worked with others over the years on many occasions. I’ve been part of countless classes, lectures, and workshops, but raising our voices in vibrating unison was AMAZE-BALLS!

We worked on 4 Runes:

f Feoh / u Uruz / th,þ Thurisaz / a Os

The primal powers of the Runic alphabet, up and to the point of the point of consciousness (Odin / Os). We chanted each rune nine times. At points I felt like the power of my voice was raising up a little too loud but I let myself enjoy the experience. I may not sing very well but I do have some powerful lungs. *smile*

This got the hamsters spinning the wheel in my head. The power of the Rune was intensified by breath and sound, the same way that I empower the Reiki symbols (Cho Ku Rei, etc).

With Reiki symbols I use the following technique.

Reiki Gong: Technique’s in Reiki Practice

(Previously mentioned in the entry, Reiki-Gong).

Practice with Cho Ku Rei

As with the Violet Breath exercise, tongue to top of mouth, breath in circularly. Allow the energy to flow through nose and down the energetic paths of the chakra. Instead of cycling the energy down through the root chakra and up the back of the spine, breath it into your second chakra, just below or about your navel. Fill that area up with the energy, a golden light.

Next we will draw the symbol.

Draw the golden light up from this Chakra, our center, and out the arms to the palms of the hands and with your dominant hand, draw the Reiki Symbol, in this case the Choku Rei. Imagine it as a golden symbol. The seven and the spiral.

Place this symbol into that which you are sending Reiki. Hold the symbol as if you were holding a dish, about the size of a dinner place and gently feel it descend into the client or object. Gently move it about until you feel some resistance. Gently push into that resistance until you feel it “click” into place.

Vibrate the CKR name three times. Say it aloud, draw it out, vibrate the name. Three times. Place your hands on the recipient / object and pass Reiki.

When you feel the Reiki complete, when the energy ebbs, gently withdraw the symbol and bring it back to your center, just around or below the naval and put the golden energy back into this place. Take your hands, palms flat to leave the hand chakras open, and push the symbol in. Breath into this center a few times.

Check out your results. Was it different? How?

I’ve practiced with this new technique on the three traditional Reiki Symbols. I have drawn the symbol large enough to fit a room and gently clicked it into place and vibrated the name and sat with the energy. I have used it on myself, on the crystal grid that surrounds my home and even in distance healing. For myself I’ve been pleasantly surprised each time at home much more effective the energy seems to flow.
Notes:

Why the center, the 2nd Chakra?

Because this is our Ki, our energy that we are using to draw a path, a channel for the Reiki energy to enter. Think of it like a straw or a catch for the Reiki energy.

Why do we lock it into place?

We do this because it sets a focal point for the symbol to recieve the energy. Drawing the Life Force Energy into place and purpose. Where it is needed and the effect of the symbol.

Why do we withdraw the symbol?

Because the gold light is our ki. It has been infused with Reiki and it will continue to empower your Reiki center over time. Consider this spot below the navel, the 2nd chakra, like a well of personal energy. it is replenished by the Reiki with each use. The more you practice this form of Reiki the stronger that center becomes.

Let me know your results. Try the SHK and the HSZSN as well.

If you are interested in that particular form of Reiki practice or would like to read more, visit the entry on Reiki Gong for more info and a link to the book / author who I learned the technique from.

I’m thinking that the next 8 weeks of class will be a whole lot of fun. I’m also feeling that my magickal practice just expanded in a new way and all it took was a big breath and a strong vibe.

Until next week.

Good morning.

Tarot Weekly: Monday, June 28th – Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Before I begin the Tarot Weeklies I wanted to express a few things about the nature of the work, and the purpose (vision). We know that there are different levels of energy, magick, and expression. Some are more spiritual and abstract, some more practical and directly influence the work we do here in this world. There are strengths and weaknesses in those workings, as we’ve seen in various forms there are energies that are stronger in the physical, affecting out blood and bone. These energies have little influence over the organizing intelligences of the lighter energy fields. That said these “lighter energies” (spiritual energies) gather a greater intelligence and can affect powerful organization on the denser energy of the body, but unless they can convince these “denser energies” to cooperate with the changes we wish to see (like our health for example), not much of what we want occurs.

I think one system that shows a perfect example of how the physical and spiritual energies interact, is Reiki. The power of Reiki (Lighter Energy) isn’t in it’s ability to heal, but to influence and let the body (denser energy) which has the greatest power to mend but needs an organizing influence to do so. Reiki moves in from subtle levels and through hands, or distance work, the energy begins to work on the denser energies of the physical and help us to shift back into a natural and healthy state of being. The Reiki cannot carry out healing, correcting the body’s health, without the bodies innate ability to regenerate and fight off illness. Regardless if the body in a state of shock, pain, illness, if it cannot organize the energies of the organism, it cannot create the healthy change that it needs.

This is where Reiki can be essential in a healing process if the body is already healing it can allow the natural intelligence with the directive and vitality that it needs. If conditions are more severe the Reiki will help shift that innate mind back in the right direction.

Why is this important for the weekly Tarot reading?

Naturally this *waves hands around my blog space* is all from my perspective, but it looks to me that the world is in a place, as a body organism, that is in need of corrective healing energy. By the world I mean, us and those that live in it. The energy we as a species generates through our thoughts, works, actions, and words. We have tremendous power as a people (generally speaking) but we’re “all over the place”… Which I suppose is our way. We fight, we love. We create, we destroy. We conserve, we burn up energy like it will always be available to us. We do these things because we can, or sometimes because we believe that something has a greater priority either by fearing it or championing it, and acting from that place. And the world keeps turning…

I believe that our purpose here on this planet is not only to live in harmony with it, naturally, but also as human beings we have the power to help each other by shifting our consciousness, so that regardless of our practice we can learn to acknowledge the tremendous power we actually have and our responsibility to all our relations.

That’s the path I follow. I shift my consciousness to the here-now while accessing the lighter energies, spiritual influences, to create the shift in the world around me. I don’t mean like shifting the war in Iraq, although enough of us probably could, I mean creating change in the relationships around me. The relationships we carry with each other, friends, family, associates. Our relationship with food, our environment, plants, animals, and nature. Our relationship with our self.

These three paths of relating are essential for survivability. Daily, they are the relations that we interact with (on some level). The way that we interact with our relationships is how we can gauge the focus of our consciousness. Knowing our focus we can then plumb the depths of our watery nature and understand the emotional vibration we are sending out into the world.

You, yes you, like me, are responsible for your own energy, your own expression of that vibe you are sending out; and we can begin to change it by focusing on how we relate to others. This is telling of the type of influence we are projecting into the world. Fearful? Negative? Mean? Are we loving? Kind? Creative? Insightful?

Do our bodies, vehicles for our All, traveling through the world leave a path of blind and senseless destruction? Chaos? Beauty? Love? Do people fear us or engender us with kindness, helpfulness, friendship, and companionship?

This weeks energies are calling to us and focusing on tuning the mind into two frequencies, both dense and light, to see our own energy and explore the actions and emotional frequencies we are transmitting to others around us. We can explore this through getting centered and working the spiritual paths, our energetic and emotional body, and also by looking at the world around us, right near our hearts, head, and body to see how our relations respond to us.

Although there is an element of thinking involved in this observation your seat of power is really your emotional nature. This seat tells us two things, when we sit down in it and get comfortable. How we interact emotionally with the world and if we rule, or are ruled-by, our emotions. It also tells us what vibratory level we are carrying into the world. Our emotional self is like a vessel of water and it’s rate of vibration is indicative of what we are giving to the world. This is our temper or tone. How you feel is what you vibrate. Your vibration is the vehicle for all that you send. All that we do is a gift into creation, and it returns to you. The longer you generate your emotional energy the more you sustain the vibration you are creating. Changing the tone of that vibration can change the entire transmission going out of us and into the world, and this returns, affirming that shift in consciousness.

This shift affects the world around us as well. The lighter frequencies go out into (by being grounded) the physical world (denser frequencies) through our changed behavior. This doesn’t mean that we suddenly take on different morals or become different people, essentially we are the same person once we know who that being is beneath all the chatter. It is an opportunity to adjust our frequencies personally so that we can better communicate our joys, passions, loves, desires, and will for a better world into the world around us.

There is a great exercise in Awakening to Shamanism, the Path of Direct Revelation. Transfiguration.

“This Transformation of the physical being into light is seen everywhere as a spiritual rebirth in which the visionary becomes a luminous being who has access to the spirits and spiritual realms.”

EXERCISE: TRANSFIGURATION

Sandra Ingerman writes,

“To experience this divine state of your own immortal light, it is good to do some preparation. It can be experienced in a myriad of ways. According to Hank, many discover that it is like a tightly woven basket or cloud composed of lines or light that create an elongated, orb-like luminous field. For some it is the bright darkness of the void. Some will see this field visually; others simply sense utter peace and tranquility in which they often feel the light expand within themselves or perceive it behind their closed eyelids.”

The later, after you have readied yourself for journey work…

“It is important to note that in this experience you are not journeying outside of yourself into another world. You are actually traveling within to experience your inner light so that it can shine through you. Many people actually perceive it as a luminous visual phenomenon against the darkened field of their closed eyes.

You might begin the journey by repeating the following intention: “Thank you for taking from me that which keeps me separate from my spiritual light, my divine perfection, the source, and the state of oneness.”

(SCOTT: IMO you should feel free to substitute these words with whatever sort of intention that best suites your personal magickal / spiritual path).

“This intention at the journey’s onset tells your helping spirits and the universe that you want to transform the form of your body and the thoughts that fil your mind. This, in turn, will bring you into a state of oneness with your source, your personal creator, your god-self, and beyond that with the god or the goddess, the power of the universe, or whatever you wish to call the source of all things.

As you repeat your intention you wil find that your helping spirits may hep you create a way for your body and mind to dissolve so that you may begin to experience yourself as pure spiritual light. Keep breathing and experience this wonderful state. Soon you might feel a change in the change in the vibration of your body. You can stay in this state for the length of the drumming, or for anywhere from fifteen to thirty minutes while you are listening to the music (See CD). This is enough time to truly give you the experience of transfiguration.

When we keep up our transfiguration work and have an experience of our inner light, we also start to find our eyes shining-reflecting that we have touched into the place of inner joy and inner wealth as the indigenous shamans do. In this way we bring more light into our own lives and the world.”

You can practice this exercise or some other exercise that is more to your own tastes, or you can simply keep your awareness centered in the emotional body. Pay attention to the message of the vibration, and note how/when/if you can and should shift it to help create the beneficial, natural, healthy changes in our relationships that support our greater well-being.

Your cards for this weeks meditation have been: The Star. The Queen of Cups. Three of Pentacles.

I wanted to update you on a healing request I sent out some time ago for my sister. She had some thing going on internally and I posted for some good healing sent her direction to some friends and a healing group that I know online. It was a shaky period for my sis and she went through some up’s and down’s, doctor’s examinations, and x-rays, to pinpoint the problem.

This last week the things inside her… ejected. One was about the size of a grapefruit and the other a bit smaller but the bleeding has stopped and the follow-up examinations show, nothing! Everyone was a bit surprised. I had many conversations with my mother and in spite of the fears it did not fee like cancer to my intuitive scans. Surprise, it’s not! 🙂

The older I get and the more I practice my healing work the stronger my faith in the process and the effectiveness of the healing work to stimulate the body becomes.

Thank you to all who spent time in prayer, sending  healing, crafting, or working with their healing spirits on behalf of my sister. It is appreciated.
It was my intention this month to set up a healing share here at the loft but I’m finding that I have something already planned for almost every weekend this month and so I don’t know that I will get around to hosting anything in May, but maybe something around the Summer Solstice could be nice? I’ll look at the June calendar and see what is possible.

I don’t want to limit the healing to Reiki alone and I’m thinking that those who practice other forms of healing could blend nicely in a group setting. The format maybe rough in the beginning but I think that we, the participants, could come together and make something lovely.

I’ll keep you posted on that one.

See you tomorrow when I post the second chapter book review of review of Awakening to the Spirit World, the Shamanic Path of Direct Revelation: The Shamanic Journey.

Be well,

Scott K Smith
