Tarot Weekly 3/28-4/3/11

A break away from a usual or old way of thinking that could be a negative voice within. Check that. Watch for the inner saboteur, our own trickster when it comes to foundations and / or foundations of passions. We could inadvertently cause our own stumble.

Ideas and plans are still young and, yes, even immature, but everything has it’s cycle from birth to death. We are in a state of constant Bardo, culture young thoughts as would a child. Stoke enthusiasm, creativity, and spontaneity. Cultivate those resonating relationships that are highlighting the free spirit, and lift up the melancholy.

Let go with that grip! Clinging to the way things are or what you don’t wan to let go of (mentally speaking), and embracing the security of change, the flow, movement and newness. Open up your mind, seek improvement by learning through the experience.

There may be concern about how this affects your standing in the eyes of others but one should be cautioned not to be so self deceptive about self importance, or egotistical about the person we wish to be perceived as. Our friends and loved ones see us for who we are, not just the mister or misses popularity that we want them to see.

Examine our reflection. Explore our spontaneity, our inner adolescent. See our self in the moving, dancing, singing, spring time world around us. It is young again.

Note: Mercury is going to go Retrograde this week, on the 30th.

It’s time to be mindful of what we are communicating, transmitting, sending and receiving in our messages psychic, and on the world wide web. *wink* There is a Mars / Aries action adding to an emphasis on the child and action, but that could also lead to foot in mouth disease. Laugh it off. Be light.

Be well,

Mercury goes into retrograde on Saturday. I’ve been talking to B about this, and spreading out some advice about transactions and communication -part of which I should have kept in mind today myself- *grumbles* because he wants to invest in some new wheels.

Naturally he asked, should I buy the car when Mercury goes Retrograde? Personally, I probably wouldn’t but that doesn’t mean I absolutely would not. Who runs my life, me or Mercury?

Conversation ensued, I had to leave to hit a dinner date / consultation, and I returned to find this article in my facebook inbox.

I love when I get these things. I really do.

The article is cheeky, fun, and yes insightful. B’s probably buying a new car, one like we’ve rented before (and loved), and we’re going to do it on a “new rules retrograde”.

Excerpt: When Mercury Goes Retrograde

What can we do when Mercury goes retrograde? It’s a fair bet it will continue to go retrograde, a few times a year, every year, until the Sun explodes and none of us have to worry about it any longer. So it’s something we can count on — and it’s something we can predict and put on the calendar. In that respect it’s a lot easier to deal with than problems that occur without any warning! Other than hang up signs saying “Talk to me when Mercury’s feeling better,” there are several things you can do to cope with a planet in retrograde. But you can do more than just cope! This is something that will continue to happen over and over, so why not find ways to make it a more positive event?

When I was a kid, we would sometimes declare “Opposite Day.” Whatever we said, the opposite was true. We’d spend all day confounding our elders by doing the opposite of what we were told to do, and tormenting our younger siblings and cousins by reversing Opposite Day halfway through their uttering a particularly disagreeable sentence. (I know it wasn’t just me who did that!) Mercury going into retro doesn’t mean “There will be problems.” It means “What normally is, is not and what normally isn’t, is.” It means that Mercury has declared Opposite Day for the next three weeks.

While I don’t suggest you go around telling your family and friends that you dislike them, I do suggest you try doing things you don’t normally do. Have you been putting off writing someone a letter? Mercury retrograde can be a great time to sit down and communicate with someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Have you been busy playing phone tag with someone at work? Stop calling! Maybe it would be better to visit in person. If you and your spouse always seem to fight and argue when Mercury is in retrograde, why not agree to spend time alone, take a weekend off and go on separate vacations or just agree to ignore one another for an evening? You could even declare a “no verbal communication” day and use written notes and hand signals.

Take this chance to be creative. Think about what problems Mercury in retrograde usually causes

via When Mercury Goes Retrograde.

Hello again. Happy MOON-day! I bring you this weeks casting of the Tarot Cards.

Tarot Weekly

Death (R) + Magician (pointing at) Nine of Cups (R), Seven of Pentacles, and Page of Wands (R). Not that there the Arcana of the week is the little Death -so called because it’s in reverse. The Magician was just standing around on the side, and so part of the drawing. He’s pointing to the significance of what we can use in the three Minor Arcana cards that accompany the energy this week.

It’s not yet over… Any frustration that you may have been having over the last few weeks may remain. There is an end in site but it appears that you are not quite completing the cycle. In a work situation this could be the continuance of a project or job that you had thought was done. It’s not. In love and relating you may find that the same issue  has come up again and the results were the same.

They are the same because we have not changed and that is the message of Death in reverse.

Frustrating situations drag on and on. I’ve read that you may not be able to move forward on these issues until you finish old business, which appear to be “over and over again scenarios” in your relationships. Same fight. Same-o, same-o. In short it is unfinished business.

There is the glimmer of a new beginning but only just there, a different path to take down the road of how we use our power / energy in our interaction with this never-ending story.

As I said the Magician is here, one hand pointing at the Rattle (literally) and the other pointing down to the three Minor Arcana cards this week. He, our Magician, is asking us to apply our magickal/spiritual thinking and practice to our thoughts about the situation(s) at hand: Those that don’t seem to end.

How have we fallen into an unconscious interaction with this person, or people, that are part of the revolving karma? If we could generate the audacity to change, to act consciously rather than falling into the same fight, how would we have manifested and grounded a different outcome? You can’t be a sleeper in these situations of change otherwise the moment passes by while you’re counting sheep.

Nine of Cups (R) pops in to tell me that there is a rise of disappointment that things do not change. This is an indicator of our challenge to the self. Note that this message of change has come up for the last few weeks. As we moved into the Mercury Retrograde, in the sign of Virgo, how could we not find an opportunity to explore the finer points of change and growth? Virgo’s see the details.

There is an unfulfilled feeling surfacing in the scenario and knit picking the details wont hash it out any more if you are going round-and-round int he same scenario. You have come at it from every angle, please look at it from the standpoint that you could be wrong in your approach. Maybe it’s time to strike out on your own and create the you that you desire and see what sort of difference that makes?

Above all contemplate your ideas about your actions and desires for manifestation at this time. We’re in a retrograde, retrogrades tell me “inner journey” not outer.

The Seven of Pentacles pops in next and affirms the last statements. He or she is asking us to take a moment and asses our situation, what is needed, if anything? What direction are we going. Does our life reflect our inner compass? What space are we acting from? How does it feel?  We are at a crossroads and the Seven of Pentacles is begging the question, are you in line with your goal and or vision of where you should be.

Is there two big of a gap between the life imagined and the life lived? Sevens are not final numbers in fact they represent that moment of contemplation as what we know is deepened through reflection, again affirming that this isn’t a time of endings but reflecting.

Page of Wands (R) can have to do with self image which further leads me to believe this energy is all about our own personal change. There is a possibility that the Page of Wands (R) is someone who is bullying you with temper, I keep reading mean spirited, or using the lame leg to cry “victim” to tether you to a dependency situation where they can get what they want by playing the wounded one.

Get centered bring up the Page of Wands in your minds eye or place the card before you. Extend your senses out to the card, feel the resonating vibration of the Page. Cast your minds eye out and carry the resonance with you, seek the source. Is it someone in your life or is it your own self-image that is playing the power role to get what it wants?

That brings me back to the beginning. If we are the cause of the ever-repeating karma, then its’ up to use to realize that the master of the wagon (Chariot) is you. Take command of the journey by giving yourself a lesson in change: It’s starts with us.

Full Moon in Pisces

Michelle Karen writes about the upcoming Full Moon in Pisces between Tuesday 8/24 at 7:11 AM and Thursday 8/26 at 7:48 PM:

Great for meditating, sitting by the ocean, anything related to the sacred, dancing, painting, swimming, dreaming, music, photography, film, sleeping, channeling, connecting with the mystical, the magic and the oneness of all that is…

She also notes the continuing retrogrades, Uranus, Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, and Mercury. You can view that list of retrogrades, times, dates and potential influences to be mindful of here.

Take that into meditation if it resonates with you. I pay attention to those planetary motions.

I hope this weekly finds you well.

This morning’s meditation was…interesting, but aren’t they all? Maybe that’s why I turn back inward all the time, the timeless entertainment of discovery.

Before I even began to pull cards I heard the name Durga. I connected to that name and in a moment all the mothers in  my life passed through my mind’s eye, an outpouring of love and respect for mothers everywhere. Just as strongly as this procession of womanly faces and the gratitude that we should all have for them, were two other thoughts.

Yes I know, Durga assembled by light of many gods, she was given their greatest gifts, she has many forms. She’s a destroyer and protector, she is Invincible, made of the light of all the gods, wielding their many fearsome and magickal weapons and tools. She kicks asses like a thousand Bruce’s Lee’s, demons of poverty, famine, evil thoughts and suffering beware!

Today she feels silent, jovial, waiting. Supportive, nurturing in her strength to give stability, balance, grounded power, and keen perception that will come in handy, later. For now it is our time to stand, sit, stabilize in her earthly powers of light. It’s not time to strike, it is time to rejuvenate. We are all mothers, we all have a thread or a weave that connects us to this powerful energy and, we all (Mothers and Others) deserve a break this week.

Maybe it is the strong Mercury and Virgo influences now and preceding the upcoming retrograde of Mercury in the Virgin, but the focus was not on the details as we know Virgo can “knit-pick” a thing to death but in the cooler, bounty aspects of the earth. The enjoyment that comes from enjoying a cup of tea, a glass of wine, the laughter in our friends and family, over the things that may come into focus in the next week that tend to irritate us or drive us to make alterations to plans or projects.

Don’t do it. It’s not the time. If you must consider carefully the bigger picture because Mercury + Virgo is narrowing the ego into focusing on details that may blind you to the greater pattern of what is being woven. This is where the “knit-picking” will hurt you. Besides wouldn’t you like to regroup a little and conserve and not blowing useless energy off on petty details. Yes, petty! Enjoying these bounties as if power, ego, a self unconcerned by worming feelings that the prevalent energy can potentially turn towards.

The cards show the astrological influences in this way…

Tarot Weekly

Justice (R), Queen of Wands, Five of Wands (R), Ace of Pentacles (R)

Careful of the balance between work and play.

Sitting at my altar the card that pops out the most is not the Major Arcana card, Justice, but instead the Queen of Wands. In this instance she is our Durga representative. Queen of Wands is quick to burn, but this is her mothering way. She snaps a flame under your ass to get the lesson across and then hugs you and tells you to get past it. Lesson learned.

Queen of wands is stable in earth this week so I know you may suspect a fly in the ointment take on a sphinx like aspect. Wait. There is some mischief up in the workings of things but to strike now would be to divert the progression by striking before the iron is hot.

What is the progression? Last week we talked about that, it was “the changes” that we are going through. This stabilizing point is to ground the energy into something more stable than our emotional nature, something more current with the season and the path at this time. We say “relax” and “rejuvenate” because there is reason to continue to seek the inner voice and follow the path that may not seem most direct.

My feeling, that our fire is held in check, used instead to radiate a warm glow, as it builds, warm up your environment, find some fun to do with the flame -friends, family, lovers, dancing, charming, almost Empress-like, spreading out the wealth of that power… just not raising your spear to strike the heart of the foulness that you are sensing but cannot pinpoint.

You may have frustrations, you may feel off-balance, you may find your self striking with the fire of the Mother of Wands but just ask if this is Justice, or something more petty, like revenge or justifying reason that we create to feel “right” or come out looking better than someone else.

Periods of retrograde are  times for inspection, the energy now focuses on our elements fire and earth. The Durga is a mother as much as she is a warrior goddess. The Shakti is flowing this week, potentially through you, take the time to find your inner mama and use that power to cultivate love, stability, strength, and if necessary a firm hand to define boundaries.

In the meantime be sure to give your mother, mother figure, or friends who is a mother, a call and tell them how much you appreciate their love and support. Giving thanks completes a karmic circle. Even better it’s nice to give mom’s a good thank you, they often do their service of raising children (birthed, spiritual, or adoptive) without a lot of gratitude.

Hug a mom.

On a side (but related) note, I really enjoyed this video by Sister Unity Divine. It was “Bardic”. Something entertaining that draws you into the story of Durga. Check out parts one and two.

Hmm I failed to note the Mercury Retrograde period that we just entered on the 17th.

Remember that the highlighted issues in retrograde, are inner movements: Self review, observation, illumination, understanding, action.

Mercury will turn retrograde between April 17 and May 11, from 12º37’ till 2º41’ Taurus.

We could become quite concerned with financial matters and be more aware than ever of the importance of simplifying our lives. We are likely to go back to the land and reconnect with Nature. A great period to take care of our physical needs, nurture ourselves and focus on the sensuality of being blessed with a body. We are also closer to our emotions and more in tune with our true inner and outer resources.

Saturn continues to be retrograde this whole month between 0º30’ Libra and 28º36’ Virgo.

These three degrees are respectively symbolized in the Sabian Symbols by: “A butterfly preserved and made perfect with a dart through it.”, “Having an urgent task to complete, a man doesn’t look to any distractions.” “A man gaining secret knowledge from an ancient scroll he’s reading.” We are reaching profound mastery of ourselves by taping into parallel lifetimes and focusing our energies on enlightenment. If we are to embody perfection, in the little time left till 12.21.2012, it is essential that our priorities are focused on achieving our highest, divine reality.

Pluto turns retrograde on Tuesday April 6 at 5º25’ Capricorn and will remain so until Sep 13.

The image associated with this degree is “Ten logs lie under an archway leading to darker woods.”. On the path to enlightenment as society and the Earth shift to the next dimension, we could encounter some very dark forces that test our resolve and psychic strength. There is a saying stating that “night is always the darkest before dawn”. We need to exercise compassion, love and forgiveness as we keep our souls’ eyes focused on the divine in ourselves and all beings.

Be quiet. Listen. Speak when ready and not before. It’s retrograde time.

*shakes head*

“At several points throughout the year most of us will be bombarded with the maddening effects of Mercury in retrograde. Mercury is a planet which governs all transportation and communication issues. Mercury is not an emotional planet, but rather a highly objective, truth-seeking one. It rules intelligence, education and truth. When it is in retrograde, some of its power is held back.

When Mercury starts turning in an apparent backward motion, we will start to feel the effects of this event days or even as far as two weeks earlier. When the planet normalizes we will see the tempo of events pick up in our lives as the planet becomes “stationary” and then speeds forward.

Gemini and Virgo are signs ruled by Mercury, so if you are one of those born during those months, you will be complaining especially loudly. If you work in the industries ruled by this planet such as sales, writing, public relations, advertising, publishing, air freight, the post office or express mail, any transportation industry, from the airlines to Amtrak, you’ll also be especially vulnerable to this planet’s weird motions in September. (If you are a Gemini, for example, who works in publishing, it’s no use calling in for a month of mental health days–you can’t escape!)”

I spaced.

I know, I am human, I make mistakes but I hate to make that particular sort of  mistake that costs an appointment. To forgot or to be unable to keep an appointment is a real bur in the fur for me. I spaced on an appointment yesterday.

Can you hear me growl?

I calendar, I jot it down, I even remind myself but sometimes I fail. When it is with a friend or client, I consider it an Epic Fail. Some  thing must have gone askew in my stars, or along the lines of my Iching bars but whatever it is… OH WAIT! Mercury is in Retrograde!

family-guy-evil-monkeyMercury, can I point my finger at you? Are you still casting your backward glance at us, dancing in reverse?

((Then later))

“What happens when Mercury retrogrades? You miss appointments, your computer equipment crashes, checks get lost, you find the car you just purchased during Mercury retrograde is a lemon. (Or, you hate your haircut, the lamp you bought shorts out, your sister hates her birthday gift.) There will be countless delays, cancellations and postponements–but know these will benefit you in the long run. Don’t fight them, although your frustration level and feeling of restlessness will be hard to cope with at times.”

~Thanks Susan Miller @ Astrology Zone (Follow LINK for your forecast).

Heartening isn’t it?

In no way am I blaming everything on a planet that appears to move backwards in the sky. No I don’t think it is that simple. I don’t point to something and lay the blame unless it is myself, and it’s hardly ever “blame” that I assign but reason. I’m usually looking for the reason, meaning why did I do this, why did I react or act, and so on down the line of questioning until I get an ‘ah-ha’ or a ‘bugger that, maybe I’ll never know.’

What I do feel is important is that because I am aware of it, I see it and if I am focusing on a planetary retrograde because I feel that the influence is taking me back over important information then that is the real message. Why am I reviewing? What am I having trouble communicating, and how can I say it better? With Mercury it’s about “communication” however whatever it is about, unless it has a practical application I can and do usually make a mental note and pass.

So blibbidy-blah, here I am babbling on all because I missed and appointment. I’m going to draw a bath, do some Reiki and chill when I get home.

I’d rather be painting.

Pandora, oh Pandora…

We witches and wise men and women open the box because we know the box. It’s edges, nicks, colors and shapes and because of this, like a puzzle it is so easy. We caress your edges, points not sharp enough to injure, lids that pull away easily to reveal your secret contents.

And there. There! Therein lies your delicious treasures, that which is unseen. That thing that has been revealed.

Eyes open. Mouth agog. We. I, stare. I see it. I see it.

When we “see,” and I mean psychically the truth versus the illusions presented to us in our closest relationships, that are so contrary, how do we act?

Mercury has transited out of retrograde, meaning, a path which we have once followed has been passed over again, or passed all together because we see the truth in the footsteps that we hadn’t recognized before. This road leads us to that destination. A retrograde reverses our direction to revisit what has been seen and done before and we have the opportunity to ask,was this right for me?

Pandora does not ask, she has kept her secret, she has her message. She lives and sleeps with the truth which has lost all fantasy and we, the viewer, with our own views, see things that have become so pase to the holder of the box, with shock or revelation.

We are exposed in the opening of “the box” and I think that this is good but I ask, how do we move forward with the new information -spoken or unspoken, seen or revealed- especially when it is about someone so close to our hearts.

I think that readers, healers and those with a knack for seeing beneath the surface come to this intersection in their lives, much like we all do but in seeing more, are we better for it? What do we do? How does it serve us?

I have seen. In fact I’ve been opened up to a few things in the last few months that have blown the lid off of my own secret treasures. I think there is a message there, in comparing the exposed.

Like a dream I am finding myself naked on the streets and I am challenging myself to halt the social “knee-jerk” to cover myself and just walk naked down the street.

Secrets revealed are, I think, indicators of our own shadow stuff. That which we suppress or shirk from, cower or cringe, and in reflection -I think- I am asked how does the information I have seen apply to myself, my life and my path.

I am not sure of the answer. At least not yet. But one thing I am sure of is that when we see (or sneak a peek) into another’s dark box, we’re often confronted with our own reflection. The contents are of little consequence to the owner (relatively speaking) because it is our fear or expectation of the items that are tell-tale of our own weakness… our own path to growth and learning.

When we know something new what happens? Does our course not alter? Do we not change? Is this not really a fear of change? And so, what is it that we are so afraid of?

So, in learning we find change. In change we are not as we were. We do not think, act, do or live as we did. In this we find the essence of Pandora, the power of the seer. His or her power is not fearing to see, but in seeing  and we are asked, can you be brave enough to change?

I guess, we all know that answer. I do. I ask myself, am I willing to change? Are you?

Have you seen into Pandora’s box and what secrets has she held for you?

Grow with the flow,

Scott K Smith
