Tarot Weekly 3/28-4/3/11

A break away from a usual or old way of thinking that could be a negative voice within. Check that. Watch for the inner saboteur, our own trickster when it comes to foundations and / or foundations of passions. We could inadvertently cause our own stumble.

Ideas and plans are still young and, yes, even immature, but everything has it’s cycle from birth to death. We are in a state of constant Bardo, culture young thoughts as would a child. Stoke enthusiasm, creativity, and spontaneity. Cultivate those resonating relationships that are highlighting the free spirit, and lift up the melancholy.

Let go with that grip! Clinging to the way things are or what you don’t wan to let go of (mentally speaking), and embracing the security of change, the flow, movement and newness. Open up your mind, seek improvement by learning through the experience.

There may be concern about how this affects your standing in the eyes of others but one should be cautioned not to be so self deceptive about self importance, or egotistical about the person we wish to be perceived as. Our friends and loved ones see us for who we are, not just the mister or misses popularity that we want them to see.

Examine our reflection. Explore our spontaneity, our inner adolescent. See our self in the moving, dancing, singing, spring time world around us. It is young again.

Note: Mercury is going to go Retrograde this week, on the 30th.

It’s time to be mindful of what we are communicating, transmitting, sending and receiving in our messages psychic, and on the world wide web. *wink* There is a Mars / Aries action adding to an emphasis on the child and action, but that could also lead to foot in mouth disease. Laugh it off. Be light.

Be well,

November 29th - December 5th

This week we get a full spread of cards across the cloth and the first thing I see is that decision-making is under the auspices of the blind. The choice cannot be made on how it is viewed, other measures / sense should be employed before committing to a choice.

Note that Venus is now direct and  moving out of Libra and into Scorpio, the sign least favored by Venus (astrologically speaking it can be needy, intense, yearning for transformative experiences in love and sex). A bit intense for the fluffy love stuff. Doesn’t mean it’s bad, but I’d mind the intensity in our convictions in our goals and relationships, they could be mistaken or overrun our stability. Mark that Uranus is going direct as well, in Pisces (?), and that’s the planet of sudden changes, electro-magnetism… He is our Awakener, the innovator, the jolt. SHAZAM!

I mention these planetary movements because there could be some major changes in our most intimately connected partnerships (work, love, family) as mentioned last week, the trend continues.

“There are some notes in the air here that says there has been, or we could be entering a time of some challenges and we’ve given a lot into our situation on the level of giving / receiving / exchange. This could be work, this could be relationships, this could be helping out a friend, or cause… The underlying message is not to be so intense, or driven because you could  lose the balance point perspective of charity and fall into the role of debt collector.

This is not about “right” and “wrong”, winners or losers, those who have and those who have not.

We can honor our feelings. There may be something that is critically wrong with the situation we are in, either immediately or in the long run, and by Gods, that is valid. We can say I have given enough and now it’s time for me. Some self-appreciation is in order, or even some pats on the back from a friend who see’s your real worth. Talk to them. Step away and in one way or another refuel.  Find some balance in your life between work and play, giving and receiving, honor and obligation. It’s the “Holiday Season,” a time when these issues can seem to pop up around every corner, and so it is also the perfect time to be mindful of this balance between give and take.”

Anyway, as I was saying, the two of Swords (R) is telling me that the message of the internal senses, feeling / intuitive, are a better gauge than what our eyes may be taking in. It’s not that you are not seeing the truth but that we must trust our ability to know and to take action.

Trust yourself. You do not need to prove yourself, just feel, know, and then move forward with that stability. Indecision, lack of faith, these will sting this week in matters of the heart, or emotional commerce. The Devil (R) seems to indicate a lesser state of denial. Be mindful of framing yourself between others to highlight the issues, relating, or focus that you have moved through. There is a hint that the internal seeking can feel like it is not enough (Scorpio / Venus / Uranus) and you may want for it to play out in the “RL”.

If there is a case of the drama-bug and a wish to give issue or meaning to what you are experiencing try to be conscious of it. Don’t drag your friends, family, lovers, neighbors, and the kitchen sink into it… unless you can mythically / ritually re-enact the process. Try Sacred Drama, or find a movie, book, something that you can get into and unwind some of the emotional tethers you may have wound up and bound tightly to the heart and mind.

Queen of Wands and Page of Wands, I’m instantly drawn to Cate Blanchett‘s portrayal of Elizabeth and the lovely looking, if tragically flawed, Joseph Fiennes as Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. I’m also fond of High Fantasy. The latest Harry Potter was pretty good as well. Talk about indecision, the Deathly Hallows, has large portions of learning to trust in oneself, and lots of good ol’story.

So… decision-making. Magus is in reverse I’m pretty solid in my feeling that this is the Querent after the energy has left… Standing where the house once stood. In the place where he or she was and trying to make something happen but there is nothing there left to work with. The time is for action and moving forward and our efforts to make change with what has ended, passed, or is no longer relevant is playing into the illusion of want and our want to make good with what we had / the past.

Gone is gone. Done is done. There is newness and it’s up to you to find it.

Interesting helper cards and I’ve got two images.

  1. The Bee is part of the hive, or a collective intelligence. A group mind. There is a much better field of energy to be found after the fact of letting go and embracing forward movement when we trust our decision making skills and our intuition. A lot of the energy you can just waste on useless drama is fuel for new connections. Sweet like honey if we move forward. Stings like a bitch if we stay back and play-replay-rewind-play-replay the same-o same-o. This “energy” feels universal in nature, magickal, as if what we are connecting to has a force, intelligence, and power all it’s own so I would probably take the time and connect with your HGA, higher self, or higher divinity.
  2. Second card, the Knight of Pentacles (gift giver) feels like an actual, male / masculine, guiding force. A guide, spirit or physical, who is offering an opportunity or gift that can take you forward now. I’m leaning heavily on an actual, physical, person with this one but there may be something “undesirable” about the person (that you believe or perceive) that may block your willingness to accept the gift. Investigate your thoughts and feelings about this… deal, or gift. The space you are in (as mentioned earlier on) and how you are playing out your life will affect the karma, tone, and outcome of this gift or deal.

Bargain or boon can turn in any direction depending on how, or if, you take it, play it, or walk away from it.

Happy Monday. Welcome back to The Journey. It’s been blustery, raining, and crispy cool in Los Angeles, I love it. Feels like winter.

This weeks  message is about self care in times of stress, and challenges. It’s pretty simple although at times it can be hard to do.

Tarot Weekly

A friend of mine has a way of thinking about money, it boils down to, I do not lend money, I give it. If they give it back to me that’s great but I don’t let money come between me and my friends. Naturally the philosophy is born out of instances where she had to cull some unsupportive, leech-like relationships, but because of the difficulties she experience in her relationships she learned a valuable (personal) lesson.

I’m reminded of this with a feeling of “giving without receiving.” It’s an expression this weeks energy. As Bjork sings, we give out the energy, support, time, and caring but we shouldn’t expect it to be returned from the sources we have invested them in. In fact that’s a bit of the bitchy-Virgo in each of us that thinks should get back what we have invested from the ones we have cared for.

Well, you’ll be taken care of, you’ll be given love…

Maybe not from the sources
You have poured yours
Maybe not from the directions
You are staring at

Twist your head around
It’s all around you
All is full of love
All around you

~ All is Full of LoveBjörk

Tarot Weekly: November 22 - 28th

The cast of cards this week are an interesting bunch, standing on their heads for the most part. Page of Pentacles remains in the sweep with a continuation of the “yada yada yada” about problems, which could probably begin to harp a “me. me. me.” song as the time that was given is not returned and a little martyr is born out of it. Watch yourself.

Remember to give back to yourself, that’s the first and most viable source of rejuvenation, besides how much gratitude are you going to get if you are holding your hand out and asking for it? The point is then lost. Watch escapism, need for validation, demands for pay-back.

There are some notes in the air here that says there has been, or we could be entering a time of some challenges and we’ve given a lot into our situation on the level of giving / receiving / exchange.

It’s the “Holiday Season,” a time when these issues can seem to pop up around every corner, and so it is also the perfect time to be mindful of this balance between give and take.

Give when we are full. If we feel empty then it is time to step back and rejuvenate. Take care of our health and well being and then from there we are in the place where we can enter into the scenario or move onto other things.

When we expect gratitude, when we ask for thanks, or demand respect we have lost all three things, it’s probably wise at that point to look critically at our situation and what we are getting out of it; what we expect out of it; and what we are doing for ourself that may need to be asked.

“When you feel locked into a difficult set of circumstances – nothing can be accomplished – center yourself and wait. Difficult though your life may be – it will change. Go deep within yourself and seek spiritual guidance. Think carefully now and ask yourself if you have considered everything. Communicate any new ideas or decisions in such an objective way that they can be received and heard. Focus your mind and allow yourself to see the whole picture.

When your balance and peace are disturbed – your passage is no longer serene – your emotions are stirred up and your physical or spiritual journey becomes stormy. Trying to “attack” a long standing problem – especially one that has been accepted by others – only agitates the situation…”

PS: Buy local. Save a Turkey!

Welcome back to the weekly.

I gotta tell you this one took a bit to cast. The tiles felt strange to me all weekend as I sat with them again and again. There are, IMO, two good reasons for that. (1) if you remember I had posted a “low post week” because of some Shadow Work, well that was not as easy as I had thought; but once into the processess, not as hard as I had imagined it would be. (2) I began to embody a bit of the reading as I watched it unfold for me.

I take my connection with the Tarot Keys as a process of synthesis and attunement. I take in the vibration of the energy that I comes through and then form a lens of sensitivity: looking for the connections and integrating the experience to form the details and reading.

Tarot Weekly

Found this bit on two significant cards in this weeks reading. I say significant because the significator / central card is the Five of Swords followed by Key XV: The Devil in the position of Earth / North indicating our physical, or monetary pursuits. Is “the Devil in the details?”

Excerpt from Vision Works by Keen:

“The Five of Swords is related to two Major Arcana cards: The Hierophant (card #5) and The Devil (card #15). In many ways, the Five of Swords is the perfect combination of both. The Hierophant sticks to the established way of doing things with no regard to whether or not they are offensive, as his actions are protected by the reputation of the larger order. The Devil is the card representing a pursuit of pleasure no matter what the cost. The Five of Swords submits to the status quo for gain or acts on behalf of individual desire from a position of unchecked power. When either of these cards appears in a reading with the Five of Swords, you are in for a greater isolation from responsibility, but the inevitable consequences of your selfish ways are adding up even faster. Slow down your pursuit of power.”

Entire Description found here.

Personally I feel a sense of importance around our pursuits and the purity of the drive to accomplish those goals. Now, by “purity” I’m not eluding to any set of particular moral values, justt your own. I felt “Devil in the Details” which can be good or bad, just so long as we recognize the message in “the inevitable consequences of your selfish ways (personal pursuits) are adding up…” Again, depending on how we use (or are used) by this influence, this could be a positive or negative to personal growth / motivations.

In the the position of Will and Passion we have the Page of Pentacles (R), and that feels like a weakness. Lack of motivation to actually pursue the desires could be in favor, or averse, to the the direction the 5-Cups and Key XV are pointing.

Personally I found it almost to be laziness about an idea, to the point of lethargy, and/or so much talk, contemplating, emotional experience without action in relationship to our drive to actually move. I imagine one who just goes on  and on about a problem, issues, project, etc but doesn’t really seem to get much done except milking the emotional moment by yacking, and not packing it up and getting it going.

Minor segue here, a mental  notation that  says, the excess we could be speaking may come across in food and drink, and as this is an example of that sort of glut that can lead to clouding ideas, you might want to follow the focus of your aims and see where your balance point is between action and inaction, drive and idea, and where there is harmony or conflict there.

Also remember that we’re in the tail end of Venus Retrograde, which moves from Scorpio into Libra. That was a soft highlight that said “Libra in Venus is being in love with love.” Careful of your defense of any protected ideas, dreams, fantasy’s or ideas that may be illusions about love and relating this week, at least until Venus moves direct again with Jupiter (expansion and opportunity) around Saturday.

*Again, Page of Pentacles (R), insufficient planning, laziness, unrealistic or  ill-applied sense of passion, and impossible values (aka “childish”).

The spread is sort of shelved between two court cards as the King of Wands (R), stands in the doorway of emotions and the currents of energy for the spread. The King is pointing to the source of disruption: insecurity. Inflated self-importance. Ego (covering fear). The weakness of a Page of Wands (R) on one end and an emotionally quibbling King on the other.

Emotionally this could be a affirming of the original message, about excesses, ok, but I also feel drawn to the image of the king inverted and and the torch in the hand of the Devil both pointed towards the earth / physical pursuits or focuses on exterior glam rather than interior illumination. The warning of being tethered to our things, money, discretionary spending (i.e. not needed but only desired), and use of power to assert dominance, recognition, etc for the sake of vanity, fear, desire.

I’m not particularly happy with the combination.

10 of Cups in the South says our minds are totally elsewhere and this is what led to me suggest impractical or unrealistic ideas. The card symbolizes Joy but pared with the Devil, it is a LACK of Joy. “Joyless pursuits.”

Watch the aims for power as the mind seems to be the below to Key VX’s above.

The supporting card is the Nine of Pentacles, and another which we’ll get to. The wealth (monetary, energetic, etc) we acquire is secure from steady sources, our survival needs are stabilized with exercises in self-control, discipline. It is more than just the objects, the money, at the Nine of Pentacles we have come to a place where we realize the value of the what we have and the means with which we have acquired it. The power, intelligence, skill, and resources used wisely to create the estate, the garden that the figure in the nine of cups stands in.

We are miss-directed when our focus is on the objects, the results that we think are of value to ourselves holistically, which is found in the recognition of all parts that were necessary to come to where we are. Not just our drive, or power to want to complete, succeed, but the temperance to sustain that fire, the wisdom in knowing how it is used and where it is conserved.

More than anything else, I think it is learning to move through the world as with the grace of the Nine of Pentacles, iconic of this inner wealth.

The Moon is waxing, I’m thinking about applying the level of inner abundance through the light of La Luna Buena to make some Jupiter expanding, Venus forward, juicy, manifestation.

Which brings me to the final card: White Shell Woman. I thought I would change things up this week with a different influence… I follow my intuition.

White Shell Woman | Susan Seddon Boulet

This card is here for meditative purposes and feel free (as is my way) to exclude it if you do not resonate with the message. “All things around me are restored in beauty”.

I invite you to explore the myth:

“Well, White Shell woman gazed about.
With moccasins of white shell, their borders embroidered with black she gazed about.
Her shoe laces of white shell she gazed about.
Her leggings of white shell she gazed about.
Her legging pendants of white shell she gazed about.
Her skirt of white shell she gazed about.
Her belt of white shell she gazed about.
Her shirt of white shell she gazed about.
Her face of white shell she gazed about.
Her mind of white shell she gazed about.
Her soft feather of white shell she gazed about.
Having on the crown of her head a bluebird with a white stripe across its mouth and a nice voice.
Having long life and good fortune she gazed about.
Good fortune ahead of her.
Good fortune behind her she gazed about.
Good fortune below her she gazed about.
Good fortune all around her she gazed about.
Good fortune proceeding from her mouth she gazed about.”

Have a good week.

Hi there. Happy Monday.

The hour changed and it rained all night. I had the most pleasantly interrupted by the sound of wind and water, nights sleep. The occasional wake of a tire on wet pavement. It brought about a deep sense of peace, an overwhelming rest that kept waking me with a feeling of alertness. I had to force myself to sleep to avoid staying up all night.

I pulled cards this last week for today. Seems like I’ve been thinking about several situations at the same time I began to tune into the message for the weekly and the voice, for me this week, came from a very visible source: Human behavior.

There’s definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
To human behaviour

But yet so, yet so irresistible
And there’s no map
and a compass
wouldn’t help at all

They’re terribly moody
And human behaviour
Then all of a sudden turn happy

But, oh, to get involved in the exchange
Of human emotions
Is ever so, ever so satisfying

Oh oh, and there’s no map

~Björk || Human Behavior

Tarot Weekly

Tarot Weekly

Please note the recurring message of the Queen of Swords and the Knight of Cups… again! These are stresses on seeing and delivering the truth, message, expression through an offering, or method of giving (gift-giving).

A perfect example of this is the person you know that believes they are heading in the right direction but on every level they are really ignoring the message. “The Message” being the way that the world interacts with them, the cause and effect, the ripples returning as what the “friend” feels are attacks, drama, and things that they have no personal responsibility for.

Honey if you’re in it, and you’re experiencing it, then you are a part of that problem or situation and probably have an obligation to be your best self. Running off and dodging situations that you feel are uncomfortable doesn’t solve anything. Spending money on toys or parties doesn’t pay the bills.

Easy, fast, immediate fixes are not the answer, no matter if they make us momentarily feel better (watch the power of the Knight of Cups in reverse).

The problems that exist in your life are your problems and you can’t pretend that you are blameless. In fact it’s a bit of an ego trip to think that you didn’t do anything to deserve this.

The Queen of Swords and the Knight of Cups have shown up repeatedly, sometimes in reverse, to delivery the message of truth, to look at ourself objectively and to ask what our motivations have been. I feel like there are many observations that can be made but what i find most striking is the two common themes:

  • Fearing the truth. Fearing to hear it, or fearing to delivery it and thinking that if we use the same passion that wants to express that message and putting it somewhere else that things will go a different way. Doesn’t seem to look that way now does it?
  • The Gift. Gratitude, in essence, seals the circle and completes karma. When we pray, we pray for what is, not what isn’t. When we visualize in spell work we are adding our Will to what is desired, the outcome is seen as done. The gift given. The gift received. What is your perspective about what is happening? Are you seeing the opportunity? Where is your emotional focus.

These two representations of action  and intention are pointers for what appears to be a common message here at the Journey.

I think that the answer should be fairly obvious as the Five of Pentacles and Ten of Wands (R) are pointing out that the situation is running you down and (this is heightened by the Ten of Wands) wearing your thin. This could potentially be seen as a mini-tower, without the thunder and lightning. It’s an easy transition once you let go and allow for the gift of that change to occur.

All the hub-bub is around any resistance to the idea. The power of the Knight of Pentacles is rather hound-like. It’s driven (air to earth) and can be as much of a gift as it is a curse, especially if we are miss-directed in our pursuits. The power, drive, and ambition become destructive, and we become blind to the course because of the stubborn nature of his power.

Sometimes your storyline is
the only line you have to Earth
~Sharon Doubiago~

Salmon exists in the realm of ancestors. They swim waters and brave currents to return to their source. They are the inspiration, the magickal Crest, for the Journey this week. Returning to our sources (guiding principles, teachers, elders, our center) can yield the greatest illumination about our truth and take the emphasis from THE Truth which is often ideological and off-center to what we should be focused on.

Swimming upstream back to their birthing grounds is hard work. I want to say the contrary to the current swim it’s right in cases where we are discussing ourself, or someone else, who fits the bill as missing the (personal) message about their direction in life, on a project, or in a relationship (see last weeks weekly). Sometimes “the best” teaching method is to struggle, often that’s the only way that the wisdom of Salmon can come through.

Short and sweet this week!

Death, from the 1911 Tarot deck by Pamela Colm...

Key XIII | Image via Wikipedia

In the middle of meditation on this weeks Tarot spread, contemplating Death, I received nine calls to ask for distance healing. A friend has been in an accident, her car is totaled, and tho she is OK, I think we’re all shaken.

My lesson seems to be to listen to my quiet voice. During my meditation I kept receiving an image of female, and feeling death. I didn’t want to pull other cards, for a minute I had to focus in on that image.

While I was meditating there was a faint buzzing. Below on the street was parked a truck, humming a long but the quiet voice kept saying “answer the phone.”

I didn’t hear my phone.

Dogs start barking. SHHH! Something outside the door.

OKAY OKAY! I’m getting out of meditation I’m going to the phone!

I must seem like a brat to the spirits, hard-headed, and hard of hearing. I did get the call. I did learn about the accident. I did spend the rest of my morning sending Reiki-Earth-Healing energy.

Anyway, that made me look critically at the cards. As is the usual I opened myself to the message, may it be revealed safely, clearly, and with ease…

Tarot Weekly

October 25th – 31st.

A few things to consider this week as we look at the cards. It is Samhain, a time of looking to the future, parting the veil, honoring our ancestors and guardian spirits. A time of endings, insights, communion, and bonds with our spirit allies, families and history.

A good read to go along with the weekly is the Temple Bell, Samhain 2010, Temple of Witchcraft. Among the many interesting things in this issue is an article, Honoring the Ancestors. Steve Kenson (Minister, Temple of Gemini) talks about spirits like the Hidden Company, our ancestors of Blood, and Kindred Spirits, or cultural ancestors.

You can download a copy of the Temple Bell, here.

As I said, this week’s card is Key XIII, Death. The theme is then surrounded by four cards, made up mostly of swords: Queen of Swords; Four of Swords (R); Knight of Swords (R); Page of Wands.

Animal Spirit: Raven.

Death | Old Hood

Fortunately for us there are no opposing or reinforcing cards for Key XIII this week. That leaves us with the Energy of Transition / Transformation / Initiation. One part dies, another awakens. This process is inevitable and so you can approach it with a sense of magick and spirit… or be tugged down the path kicking and screaming. Either way you enter the portal and make your way from one life to another.

And that’s the thing about death isn’t it? “This to shall pass” and  so we shall go through the gate. Do you approach it as an Initiate, or do you return to it like a child, as you came in, screaming and crying?

Though this isn’t an actual death, I believe in the message of dignity, mystery, and reverence.

The Raven

I summon up the animal spirit because, where there be death, there be ravens! The Raven personifies the powers of the underworld, the ability to take the passage into the mysteries and return from the darkest depths with new knowledge and power.

Symbol of protection, healing, and initiation, and often death itself usually with many negative, cultural, connotations.

Raven creates the world

“A raven story from the Puget Sound region describes the “Raven” as having originally lived in the land of spirits (literally bird land) that existed before the world of humans. One day the Raven became so bored with bird land that he flew away, carrying a stone in his beak. When the Raven became tired of carrying the stone and dropped it, the stone fell into the ocean and expanded until it formed the firmament on which humans now live.”

Minor Arcana

Queen of Swords, she faces the truth, logically, direct and the point, she asks us to be clear and to see.

Her mind is sharp, honed over many years, like a sword it cuts through the bullshit to reach the heart of the matter. The truth. Righted she is in power, with a keen and agile mind. She IS the power of the owl in this instance. Her power can take you directly to the heart of the truth.

What perception does she wield. Is this you and your penetrating mind, or a woman of authority in your life who is showing you the way to see through to the mysteries? She sits in the Northern Quarter of the spread, representing Earth.

Four of Swords (R), lies in unrest, placed in the Eastern Quarter of the spread, place of Fire. These four swords council rest, to take a moment and breathe. The power of fire should be kindled and used to review, like a torch, let the light be your guide into deeper parts of self, exploration, or inquiry into your journey at this time.

Investigate your drive, re-fuel, then get back to moving with focus and direction. Watch for isolation tendencies, you may need company / help along the way.

Knight of Swords (R), charges through in the South, place of air, where we would expect to find harmony in the element and card, reenforcing the message.

What are you so impassioned to change? What is the reason? Has passion carried away logic? Where is discernment? Alternatively, are you being a slug, so overtaken by the power of something (your idea of it) that you just don’t wish to take up the sword and carry forward because of the work it will entail?

Be on guard, review sources of information, check yourself. Carry on.

Page of Wands, In the Western Quarter stands the Page of Wands. There is inspiration in how you feel, or better yet, creative energy in inspiration via an emotional outlet or connection.

Feel for the juice! The Passion for life. A new approach, wonder, or someone who invites you to play, to lighten up, to have some fun.

Bringing it together and what do you get?

Here’s hoping you have a wonderful holiday! I’ll be out and about, dressed in bones. Be safe. Be merry. Get wild!

Looks like good ol’Clootie is hanging around for another week. Horney little bugger must be pretty insistent we catch the message. Last week was a look at miss-direction and perspective.

WLANL - koopmanrob - Hekate

Hekate | Image via Wikipedia

There is truth in what you feel and see. The point is to listen to your feelings, you inner sense, about it’s rightness for your self. We can all suffer miss-direction, the world is full of many wonderful and terrible things that can bring up our passionate self. I consider it a personal challenge to allow for the fire in the belly to burn without it setting everything around me ablaze in a 4 alarm fire…. well at least not without the proper safety equipment.

When we come to the crossroads, it is our passion that lights the way. Harness it. Make a torch like luminous Hekate, and seek the path you choose.

For the centered person, this could be a time of observation, seeing over indulgence in vice in others and knowing or seeing the result of those decadence. You may find you have an opportunity to shine a light in the darkness. Caution indicates that you shouldn’t let other people’s business take you away from your own life so much that your own passions suffer.

Tarot Weekly

So our cards for the week are: The Devil; Ace of Pentacles (R), 7 of Wands (R); King of Swords (R); Ten of Wands; Assisted by Wolf.

I write to the creative, the spiritual seeker, the person who walks a similar path. Novice or adept, there is a thread that we share found in our connection.

The gist of what I received this week during communication with spirit that I work with on the Tarot Weekly was this.

  • False starts
  • Inspect what we have committed to; what have we allowed to overpower us? What have we given our power to, dis-empowering ourself.
  • To move forward (a very common theme lately at the Tarot Weekly) we must find the resources to leave the confines of our current situation.

What does that mean?

If it is a job and you wish to progress, you may find that this is not the job for you OR that someone has or is hindering your progression.

Relationships could be binding us from change that can infuse us with the creative energy we need. Not to say our partner(s) are bad news but maybe some break away time for you into your own endeavors would serve you better.

There is a final message of “Own your Mojo!”

Do what is necessary to find your great spirit, your authentic self, your true-glowing-you and begin to cultivate that energy. It is time.

A look at the cards…

The Devil: Desire, temptation, and encounters with our fears related to our passions and our animal nature.

What are you facing here in your current situation, are you actually tuning into your fears or an instinct that can help you in your life right now. Fear of progression? Fear of advancement? Fear of change?

Seven of Wands: Are you afraid of leadership? Decision making? Are you focused on imagined outcomes? Remember the realism of the Queen of Swords and the practicality of the King of Pentacles? When we clear the mind and get back to the real path of what needs to be done, the illusions of fear fall away; or if they, our doubts, are founded in actual relationships, it can help us to find our right perspective. Where the seat of our consciousness should be sitting.

Ace of Pentacles (R): Take the seed, plant it and begin! The door is before you. Your greatness, your wisdom / know how is on the other side. Pony up! Let the journey begin.

Do you feel insecure? What are you grounded in? Again, re-seat your consciousness in the proper throne.

King of Swords (R): Again, miss-direction but more specific, either there is focus on the wrong issues and not the bigger picture, or you have been fooled and it’s time to clear the head and set yourself straight.

He is representative of a selfish man, serving his own ends, and will probably do whatever it takes to make sure his own survivability / needs are met. Could be a very charming guy, who has a sense of how people work and uses that to play the right cards. If it’s not another, watch for these motivations in the self.

This could represent our own Devil.

Ten of Wands from the Rider-Waite Tarot deck

Image via Wikipedia

Ten of Wands: Said to represent taking on too much, or more than your share of responsibility in a situation. Overburdened. I also feel an element of shame there… The figure is not only carrying to much, but his head is bend into the staves, hiding behind the work to prove the place he is in.

“See how much I have to deal with? This is why I can’t just let this go.”

Don’t fool yourself. It’s not worth the energy you are wasting that could be spent in something that you want to pursue and would make you happy.

The animal energy that comes through is the wolf.

For me, personally, this has to do with retaining a sense of power / independence while existing within the pack.

Our sense of self that is sustained by those we surround ourself with, we are empowered when we are connected to those that are part of the goal, support us in our higher aspirations, and want to see us succeed. Find these folks.

I recommend a meditation on the force and power of the Wolf to find the message that it brings to you in light of the tarot connection this week. Seek your lunar influence, feel the dirt beneath your paws, run through the primordial forest of your self.

Scott Lifencompass

Greetings travelers. I’m excited to say that we got some rain in Los Angeles. I was beginning to feel like a raison. Seems like a lot of things have been on the wait list as well, last week the issue raised was of potential delays in projects or plans, via the star and some opposing cards.

The week the story progresses.

Tarot Weekly

Strength comes into aspect this week with some strange detail cards. The compass of our journey spins the stars are illuminated from a new perspective, over the ocean and across a new vista we see a maiden and a lion. Near the woman, taming beast, we see two aces, pentacles and cups, both in reverse. These are mirrored by the two of wands (R), and four of cups.

Hind, or the deer, returns to us again. One week in, one week out, and now back. She is our animal guide or living energy that teaches us to handle our urges and the situation with gentleness, grace, beauty.

Getting ahead of myself, let’s see how these cards feel together.

The way forward is to lead with love, it may be tough love, it may be “killing them with kindness” but the way to carry on now is by exerting some control over your re-action to snap, bully, control, or growl and swipe. Bad kitty, no!

Lead the way forward from the heart.

When we bring the energy of anger or aggression up to the heart center we balance and take the animal gut reaction up to the human level.

Ace fo Pentacles (R) is asking us about what it is we are not doing to manifest what we want. Are you dedicated to making your will fruit to reward? This could also augur a loss of what you thought was a sure thing. A job, a financial opportunity, a monetary gain of some sort. Don’t play yourself by banking on outcomes that haven’t come to fruition. Wait for the pay out.

Ace of Cups (R) says, buck up kid, life isn’t all sunshine and lollipops, and you need to accept that the bad is as valid as the good, you sometimes don’t get what you want but, grow up, deal with it. Lying around and crying about your problems and blaming the world for your current situation. You NEED change.

Water is fluid, fluid is liquid, it flows to new places, takes on new forms depending on where it is carried. The current vessel for your fulfillment seems to be inadequate, otherwise you’d be feeling something else. Wouldn’t you?

Something to think about.

If you haven’t taken the time to get centered on your guiding star (last week) and come to understand, FEEL, you next move, the Two of Wands (R) is here to remind you of that important lesson. It’s nice when these little reminders come up, otherwise you may lose the opportunity in the moment.

“The door will come but once, do not hesitate” comes to mind. It’s from one of my favorite series of books ever, The Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan (RIP). Your momentum in relations to your goals, desires, and dreams is based on your focus, enthusiasm, and dedication to manifesting your dreams into reality.

It takes courage, conviction, and even risk. Putting ourselves in new situations that we do not know the temperature of. We are learning. This is life. Are you learning from the right experience or is it, the experience you are in, reminding you to find your passion again? Balance and on point, or goal lost from sight?

Which leads up to the other card (aspect) the Four of Cups. I quote:

“When you encounter the Four of Cups there is a sense that it is time for a re-evaluation of your situation and a need to look deep within your own psyche to find understanding.

You need to re-evaluate things. If you are bored or dissatisfied with the status quo, avoid distractions and examine your heart of hearts to gain clarity. “Crying over spilt milk” or saying, “I told you so” is not attractive.

The Four of Cups means disappointment in someone or in a situation. You may become tired of the same old struggle that has been carried on too long in the past. The end result may include disappointment in the final result.”

~Biddy Tarot

Well, when the message comes the invisible seems to really bang down the meaning for us. 1-2-3-4.

If you are self-absorbed, you tend to refer everything back to yourself – your own interests and desires. On this card, we see a man who is unaware of the cup being offered to him. He misses this gift because he’s turned within. In readings, the Four of Cups can indicate that you are wrapped up for the moment in your own world.

In some situations, you must focus on yourself. When life is too stressful, you need to devote time and energy to yourself or you will feel swamped. The Four of Cups can represent a positive period of self-reflection and renewal. By taking the time to go within to dream, muse and reflect, you restore your emotional balance.”

~Learn Tarot

The Deer is our little helper this week. I think she is saying to handle our self with a little gentleness and love. She becomes the lions keeper, feminine, matching that of the woman in the card. So great is her dedication to love that she can even calm the beast through her otherworldly power.

Subtleness. Have you ever watched deer coming out at dawn or dusk? Quiet. Graceful. They move with a quiet grace, ever vigilant, silent. They come out in the in-between time, dusk and enter the night. The deer return at dawn to the forest, grasses, and hidden places, always mindful of the beasts of the land. Deer can become prey.

The Druid Animal Oracle mentions a special connection the Otherworld and the Faery Folk, indicating that there is magick (new perception and exploration) to be had in these times. She’s been to us now once before.

My experience in the last week has been to see a dream crash (friend) and the later “aaack” because of it. That crash has to be recovered or we let the experience become defeat. Dont’ let the negative crush your dream, as my friend Astrid likes to say, “it can take a thousand rejection letters before your writing gets accepted”. The Star has told us, the dream is real, it can happen. Do not lose hope, do not let these times take you down, and if they do pick yourself back up, collect yourself, and look deeper.

What’s next for you? Anything is possible. Get back in touch with original vision. Take these notes and apply them to your dreams. What do they say for you and your goals in life? Begin there and find your answers.

Happy Moon-day. I hope this posting finds you well. If you’re in Southern California like me, please avoid the heat. It is one hell of a hot day.

Tarot Weekly

The Start, Four of Wands (R), Ace of Wands, Nine of Swords, Knight of Pentacles (R)… and Dog. *pant pant*

A few words floated around in meditation this morning, and a random morning encounter with a friend brought another, on a walking meditation you have to be aware of these things. The words were: Sophia and Kismet

Sophia being the divine feminine spirit, wisdom, and awakening to greater love… The energy of creation at the level of the heart, or crown. Kismet, or the will of Shai, Gods will but I get the sneaking suspicion that Kismet is more related to Ma’at, or she who moves the heavens, the stars, and the forces of The Universe.

I’m thinking that this week we are better served to seek the answer outside of our view. Do not draw on our personal well of knowledge, seek new vision first. To be open to enlightenment about our ideas about healing, resolution, and well our overall well-being.

We may want a positive experience, but it may not seem so uplifting at the moment. The Star (below) does not herald instant results.

The Star

The Star returns to us after some time to us and I feel that this is in perfect timing with the challenges that the Chariot and other astrological obstacles of late. (See the Tarot Weekly thread).

In my mind it’s a bit like someone who is held in a room. Four walls, carvings etched there, reliefs of various events that he or she is addressing. The stones have been solid, the issues writ, the response the same, and we do not pass out of the room. Suddenly the stonework becomes transparent and for an instant we see beyond it, our hands pass through the stone like clouds, the challenges of reality lift to the mental level, the mind can address them in abstract, our situation changes, we are not bound the room of stones.

Again, The Star does herald victory, but it’s not immediate, it’s the knowledge that a soul-felt success is coming. Maybe because in this we can see beyond the immediate and into the long-term, or at least the opportunity to pierce the present perspective.

Supporting Cards

Four of Wands (R) represents the limits of our view (of our situation). The house is on its head and we think that this is the way that we live. Relax it up, see where we need to allow for some breathing room and expand our minds with that breath.

I relax my body. I relax my mind. I relax my emotions. I relax my soul. Now, what do you see? Check in with you and find out.

Ace of Wands illuminates the thrust of passion, with respects to the Four of Wands (R), I believe it may show that the drive may be misdirected and thus the need for the break to collect one self. The energy is there for a reason, it is passion without purpose yet. Calm, collect, review, then see where you need place your energy. You may very well find a better way more in line with your real creative / innovative self.

Nine of Swords is a reminder to not let the doubts keep you up at night. This is the little demon that’s keeping you from the expanded place where you have the heaven’s view. The one that kept you in walls, the little beast that’s been niggling at you to fear, worry, mentally struggle. It’s in direct opposition to the message of the star. Dreams could be very revealing.

The Knight of Pentacles (R) then is the Knight of our fears. This could also be representative of someone who is adding to, or convincing you of the worried state of mind.

Connect to our angels, guides, gods, higher power, spirits, of inspiration. Soften (Sophia) to their message. See the bigger picture (Kismet) and find what these broader movements mean to you and your current state of internal affairs.

Connect to sustaining support systems, your vital affairs such as work, home, income, and see if they are being handled with care, planning, responsibility, and love.

(Careful of the guy that says there is nothing to worry about and that they have everything under control… Your concern could actually be telling you something. He’s probably fooling you).

Animal Ally

Dog (R). Love. Loyalty. Guardian. Protection. Gatekeeper in many traditions.

The Fool is followed by the dog, who is that little dog down there at his foot, yapping at the seeker? Is the pooch there to guard against the fall? Guardians of gateways into mystery, the dog is allowing us to see through the crack in the universe at this time. He is leading us to insight so his power can be used for good or ill. The mind is the director of the vision, if we’re hell-bent of fear, doubt, narrowed ideas, worry, then the ever-loyal dog will illuminate our truths through these denser paths.

*UPDATE: Just realized it’s National Dog Week. How appropriate.*

From the Aeclectic Tarot

“On the bleak landscape where the Tower stood, the Fool sits, empty, despairing. He hoped to find himself on this spiritual journey, but now he feels he’s lost everything, even himself. Sitting on the cold stones, he gazes up at the night sky wondering what’s left. And that is when he notices, nearby, a beautiful girl with two water urns. As he watches, she kneels by a pool of water illuminated with reflected starlight. She empties the urns, one into the pool, one onto the thirsty ground.

“What are you doing,” he asks her. She looks up at him, her eyes twinkling like stars. “I am refilling this pool, so that those who are thirsty may drink, and I am also watering the earth so that, come spring, the seeds will grow,” she tells him. And then she adds, “Come. Drink.” The Fool comes to kneel with her by the pool and drink. The water tastes wonderful, like liquid starlight. “I can see you are sad,” the girl continues, “and I know why. But you must remember that you have not lost all. Knowledge, possibilities, and hope, you still have all of these. Like stars, they can lead you to a new future.” Even as she says this, she began to fade away, like dew, vanishing. All that remains is a gleam that was at the center of her forehead. This rises up and up, until it settles in the night sky as a shining star. “Follow your star,” the woman’s voice seems to sing from that light, “and have hope.” The Fool takes in a breath and rises. It is a dark night, a desolate land. But for the first time, he has a guiding light to show him the way. Distant as it is, it heals his heart, and restores his faith.”

I hope this finds you well.

Resurrection: The Tarot Journey

Noun: A very steep rock face or cliff, typically a tall one.

As if I am standing on one. I see over the edge, a beach, and stones. Bits of sand and rock, a bit of grass, tumbling over the edge, falling towards a an oceans distant roar. Shore meets deep blue-green, crashing white, misting the air with wet spray.

I am wearing brown shoes.
The horizon meets the water.

Hearing Yulunga, Dead Can Dance.

I have not forgotten about the Tarot Journey, in fact I have been noting it in places but I have not named the card that has been the focal point for mediation at this time.

Turn the Card: Resurrection / Judgement

Judgement XX

*I’d like to see more of this deck. If you know what the deck is called, please let me know!*

The dead rise, skeletons in closets’ rattle, they dance. There is no hiding from the past in fact it is the one thing that holds you back. These hidden truths are the keys to power. They are shadows waiting to be reborn in light.

I am coming to the end of the cycle with the Tarot Journey and there is a complex knot of emotions that are unraveling within me. It is recognition of the call.

The shadows, the “dead” in this don’t feel to be hidden fears, or shame, but finite gems of belief unearthed. Red. Blue… Royal. Green, like seen in Oz. Yellow like the sun, almost gold. These gems, they are hidden in my stomach.

They are power catching and refracting rays of light, that climb down my throat when I speak. They are warm and I have swallowed them.

The jewels they are like tabs, or drugs, and I am beginning to feel their effect. I know I will peak there is nothing I can do for it but to ride the trip. My skin tingles along every curve, across every surface. The fine hair along the neck, my arms, these are wakened, reaching.

Someone breaths in my ear and I feel like a matron, sitting at dressing table, pearls on my neck. He says, “It’s time…”

There is a collection of thoughts condensing, hardening, transforming under the intensity of these buried emotions.

Open your own place Scott. Bring a center to Downtown.
Start teaching again, healing again. Reading again.
Time is now to begin.
Where does the money come from?
What will happen to my job? My apartment? My life.?

How do I change?

If you read this blog you know these are the reoccurring questions. If you know me, you will know these are what make dreams finite and the choices I have made in the last 5 or so years to compensate for a shifting-changing-me while the world changed, economy changed, and I made choices to survive.

Didn’t we all?

This is no “judgment” against my life-choices. I think the time that I have had to study myself has only refined my questions and answers. Wonders, what will I be feeling in 10 years from now?

I think this is the Shadow’s search, the message in the cauldron. These questions that became concerns, are my people at the crossroad. I am a Goddess at the center where four roads meet, brining little shadows food and drink. I comfort them. I comfort me.

Bjork, show me forgiveness.

Show me forgiveness
For having lost faith in myself
And let my own interior up
To inferior forces

Show Me Forgiveness by Björk

So rather than just talk about it, muling it over, I’d like to ask a question about beginnings for me. Would you be more open to events around, say a tent and table, at local events; or would something like a monthly gathering work, something more private?

Curious… but beginning.
