During morning meditation today I revisited a place in the inner temple where I met a spirit by the name of Uli. More on that later as I am still in the middle of writing a new post in the Journey Journal. Anyway, the lesson was connection and perception. Uli, in short, made a show of how she connects to all the things she perceives: Sun, moon, stars, grass, wind.
This idea creates an opening, a feeling of unfolding, an aaaaaah that I experience below my navel, and that spreads across my entire being. This week has in a large part been about nurturing and tending relationships (Tarot Weekly) with ourself, our loved ones, and potentially new relationships.
In broader sweeps I see the release of emotional baggage, and karma associated with relationships. Clearing the channel leaves the healer, visionary, open to hold a greater space for love, insight, and energy to pass through.
Others, healers, and seers are the forerunners of tomorrow, keep your self healthy. Observe your interactions, your relationships, how you meet them, tend them, and cultivate them.
Our true message is within the center of these fires of the heart.
*Sips a rather pepper English Breakfast tea…*
Okay, so, perception. As I come through my aaaaaah and open my eyes and my tweetdeck, I see a post by Chati.
Perfection! Perfect exercise in perception!
There is a “Cause” and “Advance” and an “Effect”. In fact after reading the post for the exercise, maybe you will reply with me to Chati later in the day or this evening after you have snapped some photographs?
A Request:
If you do this exercise, I would greatly appreciate it if you can send me some of your favorite photos you’ve taken while doing this OM. I’d like to post them on this blog so more people will be encouraged and empowered to do this Ordinary Meditation. Please email photos to: chatishine@gmail.com . Please include your name, age and a little note about yourself. Thank you!
I’ll update the Journey later with my days path in photographs and send my favorites to Chati.
I hope you will join us in this exercise. It’s a great exchange of image, idea, and energy.
You can also follow Chati at Ordinary Meditations on Blogspot.
Carry camera, take photos.

The spirit addresses us in those who command the physical. Men or women who are rulers in their own right, leaders, kings, emperors, politicians, officials. The light shines through them, their message or the message around them. This is significant in that their decisions are affecting our environment, the physical and social realms that we operate within. The mother.
We are rulers in our own right. Do not let persuasive power move you. Keep your wit and your strength, by claiming your own choices (destiny) and going the direction that feels right for your own growth, practice, or period of life.
Watch mid week when Pluto and Venus do a little dance with each other, Atrapos. This can magnify the energies of these relationships so be sure of yourself, your heart, and your aim on your path because it could be altered if you are not. Note needing something over simply wanting it. Discern between the two.
Watch for tendencies to be miserly, greedy, emotionally aloof or closed. The state of giving and abundance are true gifts, and when we are centered in them we shine and other paths open before us. Gratitude attitude.
Small changes are apparent in the structures we have depended on. Cracks that appear now, foreshadowing changes to come. The Tower is noted by those who did not head the warnings to evacuate the building, thus having to throw themselves from the parapets screaming and ablaze. We can change better than that. We’re evolving. We’re awake in our feelings and intuition. We honor these emotions and indicators. Feel natural and in harmony with this.
There is a wealth of astrological information about the daily movements at Shirley’s site. If you have your own astrological resource please refer to her or him as there seems to be some interesting points along the weekly map with the Moon, Mercury, and Saturn.
Be strong. Inner discipline regarding earthly matters about the administration of your life / business. Exude abundance. Watch for social-political, or otherwise influences from bosses, government, or key figures of power in your life. Be sure the decisions you are making are based on the scenarios you are attempting to manifest in your life and not the desire to please, ease, or make light of uncomfortable situations related to these figures. Do not operate from fear…
Abundance. Empress. Earth mother.
Exude it with confidence, softness, and throw in a wink.

Hello. Hello!
Yes I finally did it, I opened the doors to Lifencompass / my home and started a healing share. I began by calling it a Reiki Share but I feel that there are just too many great healing modalities that work well together to limit it to Reiki alone. Besides the work “reiki” is just to limiting lately. There is so much more to it than the “#hashtag” “#Reiki” has become. Today, with a few healers I have worked with over the years, we draw together a start, a circle of healing in Downtown LA. And in the case of anyone thinking, Um why didn’t you call me? I started with students and healers I have established a working relationship with, and those that arrived become what I hope is the seed.
I’m excited!
The energy of the house, that sits within a little healing grid, has changed already and a lot has come in and through in preparation. I am REALLY happy with this. My life, my changes, and my path feel… on point.
So, in the future I’m looking at expanding the circle and opening up the healing practice again, and, and, and, moving forward in this new direction. It’s time. I’m glad you have walked along with me. Anticipate new things, maybe like once a month. Expect invitations.
For updates you can add me as a friend on Facebook:

Greetings!
First, I hope that this finds you feeling groovy on another Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In my mind he is one of our sentinels for human progress. The spirit in which we can find our drive to do better. There is a lot going on in the world right now, well there always is, and I’m find the impetu for breaking down followed by the thematic spirit of hope, to rebuild, stronger and more enlightened.
A few things I want to point out this week.
On twitter the other day, Taz Thornton mentioned the significance of dreams. I mentioned this on The Journey || Lifencompass fan page for those tuning in because I’ve seen the trend of pointing to the importance of dreaming and the messages they carry. Personally mine have been enlightening to say the least, bringing up the debris of issues and energies that have been transiting out the last few months.
In recalling this theme of death / transition / transformation the momentum built to a shift point (Death, Wheel of Fortune, last week) with a moment of push-forward-and-get-it-done.
I used this as an opportunity to tackle some personal fears about success and to let go of some issues around that (self-confidence and prosperity, abundance) although somewhat late in the week, last night into this morning things finally clicked and passed for myself.
Look for some astrological influences of note, courtesy of Sandra Helton:
The Sun enters Aquarius and sextiles both Uranus and Jupiter this week making the atmosphere charged with abundant progressive energy. You become more aware and flashes of new ideas and enthusiasm positively renew your attitude about life.
A major shift this week is Jupiter entering Aries where it transits until June and carries you far beyond a regular routine and the predictable daily lifestyle. There is enthusiasm in the air even if you are not clear about anything in particular. Interest in embracing a more exciting lifestyle and incorporating more is to be an ongoing trend.
The jolt of Mercury conjunct Pluto calls for you to think deeply about what matters and where you are going in life. Out of the time you spend thinking on this and bringing in new ways of management you will have as an end result a more workable and enjoyable lifestyle that has depth and meaning with a spark of newness.
Tarot Weekly
I’m looking at reminders of keeping steady with progress. Things like personal change are not won with the toss of the dice, although they can often be started or noted with the rattle and roll of lady luck. Rolling numbers we see two fives and a nine, both are card members of change. Completing the square is a two, a call of partnerships around ideas. Although with the two of swords we’re looking to be in harmony with our ideas not our fears, so the partnership is with your self.
Keep your eyes on the self and your goals. Watch for self-absorbed behavior and obsession with your own makings but the highlight should be on the goals or projects we have been working on.
Crying over what isn’t, or what is gone, is just a waste of your own energy as it leaks into waste. Avoid it. There is a bigger circle of energy at work, at this time, that can really help you. I’ve seen it in action and whether it is astrological, magickal, or the rush of new years energy, or all of the above and then other things, it doesn’t matter. The help is there, take it.
Keep an eye out for self-doubt, insecurities, and a defeatist attitude. If you catch them you can work with them. They may be coming through in dreams and waking you up at night (nine of sword reversed), you can work on them with affirmations, meditation, or even healing work by communicating with them as if they were sub-personalities that just need to be tended. Massage out the rough parts and work them into the right direction. Again, energy is there to help you in your endeavors. Universally speaking, we are not doing this alone.
Don’t be stubborn in resisting change or making a decision. Fear (above) or denial (two of swords) is blocking you from opening up to the proper direction. My advice is to remove the blindfold and trust what you see before you, directing the swords as emblems of truth, and symbols of action, activating them to cut through the illusions of the mind, doubt and fear, is in your best interest.
Keep plugging away and set your heart and mind on a hight note. Diligence creates abundance.
Because of the “Dream-Theme” this week, I HAD to put this video in the weekly.

When we consider violence I think we should think of the mind as the center of violence. From that center unfolds poisoned thoughts, words, and actions. This is the venom of life. The act of violence is the result of violent thought. That said, I think that it is my responsibility as a human being to be mindful of my own thoughts. These are generating my experience.
I am not Buddhist but I see the value in the Noble Eightfold Path, and it starts with the Right View: To see things as they are. It flowers in mindfulness and meditations on improving the consciousness. It is detailed with effort and shows us that it takes focus to be better at being human.
People who speak from a perspective of violence might benefit from the Eightfold Path, at the very least a conscious effort to look at their own life from the Right View.
I think it is up to us to be mindful of this poison that can infect people, and to continually strive to come from a place of medicine, or curing. At the very least, of cultivating our own Right View. That doesn’t require you to believe in Karma, or to be Buddhist, or sacrifice your faith. It is a demonstration of your ability to be a conscious human being. You may not always succeed but there is not judgement in your failure, find encouragement and resolve to dust yourself off and try again.
I don’t know why we have the life that we do but I think that we get what we give into it. In fact I think much like Grace, which is developed along the side of Sin, that our better natures can only be cultivated among the muck and refuse of living.
The contrast creates the beauty. The message is in this simplicity. The meaning (IMO) points back at my self and says, which image do you focus on, the mud or the flower? In that focus what then do you create? How does it feel? Are you better because of it? It takes work.
I tell myself, keep it up.

Greetings!
With the new year I began a few new projects for Lifencompass, the Journey. Is started a fan page on Facebook. I crafted a new path on my magickal journey, beginning the Living Temple of Witchcraft Series, starting with Volume One: Decent of the Goddess, Christopher Penczak. I also penned a few drafts for some art/craft projects.
In this posting I wanted to talk about the breath and breathing, through the vein of a few meditations in the Temple of Witchcraft series. This month I have set up a Root Chakra Temple, and started with the Muladhara in my meditations and journey work.
Some of the Temple of Living Witchcraft reviews will appear on my Vimeo channel, for registered and approved viewers. Please contact me there if you would like to view the vlog.
The past three days I’ve woken and done breath work, breathing through my senses.
Opening The Senses
Exercise 3, Living Temple of Witchcraft, Christopher Penczak.
As part of the mysteries of the body, we explore the senses, the root, and the body. I love these exercises, they’ve had a very practical and positive impact on my life, down to my daily routine.
In this meditation we use breath to first draw in healing energy (Life Force Energy, Prana) through each of our senses, and then explore that sense. Meditating on what we perceive. We end by breathing and out through our entire being. If you would like Christopher’s meditation and tutorial, I suggest picking up his Temple of Witchcraft series. Life changing.
After entering a meditative state we breath through our eyes, then ears, nose, skin, and mouth. In each moment we are exploring the power of that breath of energy and opening our senses to the body and the world around us. Sounds pretty simple but you would be surprised at how you have dimmed some of your senses.
I use various methods of moving energy but on the second day of using this technique my mind wandered off the prescribed path and began to piece together other exercises to increase the depth of the experience.
First I recalled that Brandon’s Grand Mother wakes in the morning and does her form of Yoga. Breathing in through her nose, and out through her mouth while stretching and extending her body. Good stuff. At 78 she has done more than most Grand Mothers, including Tae Bo! And she still goes to the gym and looks fabulous!
So as I breathed in and out through my senses I recalled that the breath is healing, enlivening, vital.
I followed through the senses listening and feeling, and then completed the prescribed course at which point my mind jumped off again and I found a few other helpful pathways of breathing.
I recalled a dream from a few nights ago in which I met a Peruvian medicine person (not sure if that is the proper title of the masculine feminine use of the word). She was breathing in energy of the world and sending it back into the world. It was a startling dream because she was glowing brighter with each breath, powerful with each exhale. She used a few examples, including a friend to demonstrate the power of her breathing technique. During the exercise today she appeared re-illustrating the breathing in and out of Life Force Energy, into the sky, the earth, the body, and the environment. Into each thought that came to my mind.
Then as I was breathing into the earth and sky I began to direct the energy to come through the lungs of the three worlds. Upper, middle, and lower. Each being, one being, myself, breathing in and out the sacred energy of life and breath and returning light and energy to the world. This brought me to the essential self, the awakening of the consciousness of the master within (Awaken Your Light Body, Formless Self, etc) and a new breathing that was an amalgamation of my senses, and levels of awareness.
Breath, is a powerful thing.
********
You may ask, how are these things beneficial or even practical, as I mentioned before?
Well, I’m finding that a lot of the work done at the Muladhara has brought clarity to financial issues, helped me to organize my house, kept me stable and grounded. This is magick on it’s most practical level. Loving the body and life. Expanding the senses. Becoming aware of our surroundings and making use of the vital energies.
Although I have long worked with my own energetic system the result of re-addressing them from a new perspective has refreshed my outlook, inviting changes and broadening my understanding of myself and my connection to all things.
I’m also reminded of two other points. One, I know that as we shift our awareness we shift awareness around us. Now I do see how that shift could be up or down, meaning positive or negative and how that change can effect those that we surround ourself with. But if you follow me here, and I believe you are, then as I breath I exhale into the world my intention for healing. As I expand my senses to include a deeper awareness of the world around me and my interactive place within it, am I not contributing to some 100th healer phenomena? What was the Peruvian Medicine Person (in my dream) meaning when she instructed to breath that energy back into the world? I have my answer. What would be yours?
The second point that comes to mind is that the practice of meditation, breath work, and of bringing in these subtler energies of healing and light into my life, that they have really changed the vibe around me. I see it in how I interact with those closest to me and how I move through the world. It adds to a fuel of energy within, a little storehouse. It’s very helpful, enough that I would like to share. So here would be my instructions for the breath work. My tweaks to the process.
Breathing Prana, or Life Force Energy
- Get into a meditative state. State your intentions.
- Start with the Opening the Sense exercise listed in The LToW, Vl. One or another similar breathing exercise to expand your awareness.
- Breath in the energy through your five senses. Take note of any feelings, thoughts, sensations, and record them later.
- Now that this level of awareness is established, we’re going to go wider. Deeper.
- Breath in the Life Force Energy and out into the crown, the heart, and the root. Bring the awareness of your intake and exhale at these points as simultaneous inward and then outward streams of energy. Feel the multi-layered awareness. I imagine my upper, lower, and middle world selves as a linked, unified being. It is sometimes necessary to explore each of them individually to know them. Like understand the had to the arm, the arm to the torso, etc, but for the purposes of this exercise we should be at the stage of having established these points of awareness. If it is uncomfortable, stop, practice something different and come back to it when you feel ready.
- Now focus your awareness on the entire being. Breathing in and out into three worlds, through the five senses, the crown, the root, the heart. This is the greater being. Breath in. Breath out. This is who you are in a broader sense, a magickal mapping of mutli-dimensionality.
- The power of this being is you. Notice that as you breath in and out into your environment, that the energy is passing through a center in your body. It is moving through a vortex, that is both taking in and sending out the energy. Find that place, should be around the area of your naval. Breath in and out. Breath in the light and exhale the light. See it the vortex of energy glowing with this energy. Not too much, not too little, just the right amount. Send any excess into the world as light. This is healing energy. Life force. It infuses you, your self, your energy centers, breath and body.
- Stay in this place of breath, being, and energy until you are ready to return.
- Come back to your normal state of consciousness in your preferred way. This plane. This moment. This time. Stretch and move your body comfortably. Bring your breathing back to what feels like your everyday breath. Wiggle your fingers and toes.
- Christopher Penczak says, and I recommend, to “Take both hands and raise them up over your head, palms facing your crown. Slowly bring them down over your forehead, face, throat, chest, abdomen, and then groin, and “push out” with your palms facing away from you. This gives you clearance and balance, releasing any harmful or unwanted energies you might pick up during your magickal experience. Tell yourself:
I give myself clearance and balance. I am in balance with myself. I am in balance with the universe. I release all that does not serve my well being.” (pg 47, LToW, Vol. 1, excerpt Exercise 1).
Now ground yourself as needed.
I’m getting into the habit of this mediation daily, in the morning when I first wake. You can find the time that works best for you. You don’t have to go as deep every time you do the breathing exercise, simply staying with the senses or moving directly to the whole-being as you feel called. I’ve got a pretty good understanding of my whole system so I can start by breathing into my senses and move rather purposefully into the more advanced and deeper work. Go with what feels comfortable, right.
I’m sure you’ll see and feel a difference. Daily meditation, bringing in light work, adding breathing, these things have helped me to clean up parts of my life where I felt a bit disorganized and to follow my calling at the same time.
That’s practical magick.
See you next time.

Mercury goes into retrograde on Saturday. I’ve been talking to B about this, and spreading out some advice about transactions and communication -part of which I should have kept in mind today myself- *grumbles* because he wants to invest in some new wheels.
Naturally he asked, should I buy the car when Mercury goes Retrograde? Personally, I probably wouldn’t but that doesn’t mean I absolutely would not. Who runs my life, me or Mercury?
Conversation ensued, I had to leave to hit a dinner date / consultation, and I returned to find this article in my facebook inbox.
I love when I get these things. I really do.
The article is cheeky, fun, and yes insightful. B’s probably buying a new car, one like we’ve rented before (and loved), and we’re going to do it on a “new rules retrograde”.
Excerpt: When Mercury Goes Retrograde
What can we do when Mercury goes retrograde? It’s a fair bet it will continue to go retrograde, a few times a year, every year, until the Sun explodes and none of us have to worry about it any longer. So it’s something we can count on — and it’s something we can predict and put on the calendar. In that respect it’s a lot easier to deal with than problems that occur without any warning! Other than hang up signs saying “Talk to me when Mercury’s feeling better,” there are several things you can do to cope with a planet in retrograde. But you can do more than just cope! This is something that will continue to happen over and over, so why not find ways to make it a more positive event?
When I was a kid, we would sometimes declare “Opposite Day.” Whatever we said, the opposite was true. We’d spend all day confounding our elders by doing the opposite of what we were told to do, and tormenting our younger siblings and cousins by reversing Opposite Day halfway through their uttering a particularly disagreeable sentence. (I know it wasn’t just me who did that!) Mercury going into retro doesn’t mean “There will be problems.” It means “What normally is, is not and what normally isn’t, is.” It means that Mercury has declared Opposite Day for the next three weeks.
While I don’t suggest you go around telling your family and friends that you dislike them, I do suggest you try doing things you don’t normally do. Have you been putting off writing someone a letter? Mercury retrograde can be a great time to sit down and communicate with someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Have you been busy playing phone tag with someone at work? Stop calling! Maybe it would be better to visit in person. If you and your spouse always seem to fight and argue when Mercury is in retrograde, why not agree to spend time alone, take a weekend off and go on separate vacations or just agree to ignore one another for an evening? You could even declare a “no verbal communication” day and use written notes and hand signals.
Take this chance to be creative. Think about what problems Mercury in retrograde usually causes

While there is a healthy dose of skepticism in this article, and a comment of “absurd” from a doctor, their clinic study, and patient response gives Reiki a thumbs up.
My original Reiki teachers, and friends, established a free clinic of complimentary / alternative therapies in the 80′s through the 90′s and eventually had an out-patient clinic at hospital in SF, thanks to the welcome reception by Kaiser. They offered Reiki, among other things, as a complimentary therapy for the recovering.
I can still remember Claudia retelling her meeting with the board of directors and administering Reiki to doctors. Anyway… on to the article.

Don’t forget that Doctor Oz played a supporting role on his show, The Doctor Oz Show.” You can catch that segment on Youtube, or via my Reiki page, here. (Scroll to the bottom, press play).
In almost 20 years of Reiki work I’ve seen a lot. Dramatic recovery’s, long term treatments, and heard stories of assisting those in passage from this life. I’ve used Reiki to compliment healing, release, and lift emotional states of being, in art, cooking, and in conversation.
For me, it is a living part of my life. I’m always glad to see it in the news in such a positive light.
I appreciate your comments, keep them coming!
